i got the idea for this post from the favorite wakepics.com video thread and wanted to expand on it a little.

anyway, what is your favorite wakeboarding DVD you've ever seen and why?

i'm tired of trolling the internet for blurry 2 minute videos of good riders, so i thought i'd splurge the $20 or whatever it costs to get an actual DVD. i've heard nothing but great things about natural born thrillaz, but i'm sure there are plenty of awesome DVD's out there.

Hit It!

The first vid I owned and it's an old school classic. Also like the rest of the old FLF films, Spray, Mayday, Skurf's Up. I think Sidwayz sells a DVD with three of those on one disc. Still need to get that one myself. My old VHS tapes just don't cut it anymore

Right now I dig the Butter Effect. I think the riding and vid skills are top notch.

I still really like Natural Born Thrillaz, too.

Hmmm, now that you mention it, there are a ton that I like. Free for All, Metronome, Monkey on a String, Pointless....

Definately PrePop

I need to get a new one, I want to get one similar to it (music/sections and such)

I second C.I.E. with the Butter Effect, the riding and filming is top notch. I aso like Such is Life, I like to see some of the other riders than the norm. I cant wait for Almost Famous, a bunch of young new faces that are throwin down.

..... Walt got it right! Those are all good new DVD's. If your only going to buy one i'd say Butter Effect is nice and long with awesome riding and a killer soundtrack! If you really like the Liquid Force team get Encore because its two discs as well, the first disc being Relentless! Any Attention Deficite film is good but they are short! Invisible Cinema and Prepop rocked!

I definatly think butter effect is the best film of the year. Sean did an excelent job!!!

Other than that Blue Print, Doubleup exp, Delta Sessions and anything that Cordell was in!

Better Effect, Rusty kills it, & Pre Pop. Another little known film called Blue screen by Jared Eygabroad Mostly northwest riders Brent Star, Ennen bro's, Brent V, Philip Combs, Silas, Nick & Mike Cardoza (they Kill it). Well done, it's worth a look.

Such is life ticked me off. Too much artsy stuff in it. Really good editing though. I've only seen Butter Effect aside from that(I'm new to the sport) and love it. The sound track is awesome plus the stuff previously mentioned. Any recomendations for something similiar?

Kenneth, Pre Pop, Relentless
Old    walt            10-18-2005, 7:21 PM Reply
Kenneth,

I agree with you a little bit about Such is Life and the artsy fartsy stuff but it was well done. They really had some cool camera angles too.
Lyman and Nunn both had SICK sections in it.

One other thing that I didn't like was while watching it I'm getting all fired up seeing Nunn and Soven shred just to be followed by a really mellow skateboard scene.
WTF was that all about ? Get me all jacked up on wakeboarding and then pull the rug out from under me with a skate scene.

Don't get me wrong because the skateboarding scene was awesome and well done but out of place IMHO.

One other thing I liked about S.I.L is the sound track. I thought it was great because they really mixed it up and had an open mind.

I don't have a favorite vid anymore, just favorite sections.

Old     (jcv)      Join Date: Oct 2005       10-19-2005, 10:22 AM Reply
so encore is basically just relentless in its entirety with some new footage, or did they only take a few sections of relentless to add to an entirely new movie?
Old     (westcoastripper)      Join Date: Sep 2005       10-19-2005, 10:35 AM Reply
mix tape, parks double up or nothing, and relentless, and incomplete, all pointless vids.
Old     (wakeboard19)      Join Date: Apr 2005       10-19-2005, 11:32 AM Reply
I second the nothing version 1.0 Parks' hang ten is sweet. He is young in that video. I like running on empty, natural born thrillaz and depth charge because of the location.

Such is life was wierd. I really like the riding but all the stuff in between i didn't like. When i watch it now I have to fast forward through that crap.

I'm with slipknot, I still like some of the older vids...Faction, Shaft/Shafted and why hasn't anyone mentioned the greatest of all....12 Honkeys! I still love that one!

As far as new vids I have to say Butter Effect for sure, Delta Sessions (have to represent), Prepop and All Or Nothing. Didn't care for Such is Life. Too much dramatic bs and skating. Some people say that All Or Nothing had too much drama, but I think that it flowed better and still had a lot of wakeboarding.

I can't believe that nobody mentioned All or Nothing....Has anyone seen it? What's the deal with that. It definitely has guys going bigger than any video I've seen!

Gotta throw in a vote for "For What It's Worth" and "Switch 22". I dig the old school stuff. Shaft and Shafted were great as well.
