So i began hitting double ups lately and i have been able to hit a few successfully, probs the coolest feeling ever! But, i am having trouble timing them. Sure, i am just beginning and i know practice makes perfect, but maybe some of you have rules of thumb on how to hit one, or tips and tricks on how to time them perfectly. Thanks in advance.

if you have it, watch the butter effect. I know that sounds kinda stupid but in the Bullards Bar section there are a lot of double ups, you can see about how wide they drive them, and when they start cutting.

Eder! Watch the boat first when you are timing your double up. When you see it hit the set of rollers you want start your cut. You will hit it everytime!

if your driver is driving them well what you do it cut out into the middle of the cirlce when the boat is coming back around to hit the rollers. what you want to do is roll over the first roller and edge in following the trough between the first and seccond rollers. if you stay there all the wake to the wake you should be able to nail it. once you get them timed out well you can move up to the thrid roller which is the biggest.

I agree with Ryan.. Watch the bow of the boat pass over the first roller and start your cut.

def wait for the boat to hit first roller. that sets you up perfectly. just edge thru it.

Eder, I FINALLY got back on the water today after a two week hiatus. Was not so stoked on the amount of time taken off but I think it should pick up here soon. Unfortunately this week is a tad busy especially in the evenings but we should get together soon for sure! Let me know when you are going out next.

It helps me to take a more gradual cut at the wake. I hit them at closer to a 45* angle than my typical nearly perpendicular cut.

What Jason said is spot on, you got to get into the trough between the rollers and ride it all the way up the peak. This also gives you a good edge up and will boost you large.

well.. i cant really give a tip.. but i can tell you wat helped me.. the first time i tried it.. i saw the roller i wanted to hit.. and did all i could on my cut to get to it.. NOT SMART.. i boosted waaay to hard and went basically straight up.. after a couple more tries of watchin the boat and wen the rollers come around.. you can just time it out.. i came to figure that it was mostly trial and error.. but once i got it.. i got it.. hope this helps

Thanks guys, if summer courses werent taking up my 'valuable' time i'd be trying all your tips by now! but i cant until tomorrow! cant wait to give it another shot, i love the feeling of when you hit it right...its like smacking a golf ball perfectly, as hard as you can, straight down the fairway!

Ride your edge in the trough in front of the roller you want to hit all the way through the wake. There is a good article in june issue of WBM. Issue with Randall on the front.
