My father in-law and I are crafting a new system for his new sport tri-toon JC pontoon.

I have given him my ideas for an efficient and powerful clean sound but I thought I would throw it there to the all knowing WW forum:

The interior speakers are JL 880's and there are six of them from the factory.

Two JL 770 tower speakers to be added at stereo shop.

One JL 12w3v3 subwoofer in a seal box but I'd rather him do a ported box...to be added at stereo shop.

One WS420SQ with the BT add on to be added at stereo shop.

I would like to see him use the Wetsounds SD6 for the six interior JL 880's and the two JL 770's Tower speakers. I feel the 880's need 185 or more wattage to make them shine since they will handle 250.

For the subwoofer I like to see him use a JL 750/1HD gained down just a tad to not hurt the 12w3.

For batteries I suggested a Deka Series 31 for the stereo bank to give him a nice 105 mh battery that will have a shore trickle charger.

HU is a Clarion CMD8

Input Please:

SD-6 for the six 880 in-boats

SD-4 for the pair of 7.7's on the tower and the 12W3

How many watts rms are the 770s?

A syn4 would give you 400w to the sub(which has a 500w max) and then 200w to each tower speaker.

x 2

Exactly what i thought when I read through the post. If there is one thing Mike knows it's audio. Listen to whatever he says.

i concur. i have 2 jl 12w3's and feed each of them 500w rms. they can handle more if tuned properly. That being said, I don't think you'd notice the difference between 500w and 600w on them either. Hopefully someone else can chime in to that aspect of the system.
