First Look at the A22 from Axis
We wanted to share these renderings of the new A22 with you, the Axis e-news subscribers, first.

We have received such an overwhelming response to the announcement of Axis Wake Research and a price-point big wake-specific boat, we wanted to make images of the boat available to those of you who have expressed interest as soon as we could. So here's your first look. While these images are not final renderings they will give you an idea of the style and attitude that is being built into the A22 from Axis Wake Research.
The new A22 wakeboard boat form Axis is bringing high levels of big wake performance and pride of ownership exclusively to the entry-level boat market. Available for purchase in January 2009, the A22 is poised to better current price-point boat offerings with big wakes, this look and quality construction.

The A22 Axis design fills the void in the price-point wake sport market with an aggressive look owners can be proud of. The deck and bow are dramatically different with an angular, aggressive stance never before experienced in the entry class. The A22 is utilizing higher quality construction processes, sub-floor ballast tanks, an open floor plan design and an interior designed for rugged simplicity. Axis Wake Research is bolstering ownership satisfaction and pride of ownership with the A22.

If you know someone who would also be interested in this e-info from Axis please forward-to-a-friend. Or point your friends to the Axis E-news sign-up form.

For more information on the A22 and Axis Wake Research e-mail research@axiswake.com and keep an eye on www.axiswake.com. Visit the Axis Wake Flickr Channel to view and download Axis images.

We will be sending you more updates on the A22 boat and Axis Wake Research with E-news e-mails. Stay tuned!

If all they have is renderings...I don't see this making it to market by January. Has some potential.

just cause they wanted to share renderings with you, doesn't mean that's all they have. they could be finishing up some boats as we speak.

your thread headline should have read "actual renderings of axis boats."

No wrap around windshield is hideous, ugly, and impractical, I can imagine all the spray that will be on the gunnels of the boat. Also, I doubt that the tower is really designed for price point. I am sure Titan towers are much cheaper, and I personally prefer the look of the titan.

i'm not liking the lack of a wrap around windshield.

Windshield looks bad, the way it is setup it basically looks like the malibu corvette boat with a tower.

Wrap around glass ftw

Looks like the tower base is going to be a weak link unless they move the tow point forward some more like Malibu. I also agree with the looks of the Corvette boat but I have always liked the Corvette boat so it is a plus for me.

The renderings don't look that bad but I bet its gonna be just like most the girls on My-Space. Way better looking on the net.

Great idea, shape and purpose. I really like the windshield, takes me back to the old style 210 where I don't need to stretch over the side of it to here or talk to my rider when tracking back. The tower I can do without but I'm sure in time I will like it. Can't wait to see that they actually come out with. Good Luck Axis Wakeboats!

SINKO....What does ftw mean....i see it all the time on WW, but i don't think its common place up here in sunny Canada...

It's not even about the looks of the windshield, I am not sure about anyone else but my wrap around windshield on the sides gets a fair amount of spray on it throughout the course of the day, and all that spray will end up inside of the boat on people that may be wanting to stay dry. Yes, I understand that boats are supposed to get wet and that people in boats should want to get wet, but sometimes cold spray on the back of the head is unwanted, especially in the beginning or end of the season.

I'll reserve my final opinion until I see a production model but right now I'm disappointed.

Sessions
Tomcat
Xstar

Will be coold to actually see one. Hope they make it to the boat show this January....

Good call on the Sessions but for some reason I also saw a little Gekko in them.

The running surface looks very Malibu Like. Diggs, the Sessions and Gekko felling you are getting comes from the Gunnels, I think...

This thread is misleading. Those are not actual photos. We already have a thread with those ugly ass renderings.

January of 09...I highly doubt it, especially with all this late press release only "months" away from market.

I agree with the tower and windshield comments. The windshield is a horrible idea, have they ever been in a boat heavily weighted? What about windy conditions?

"No wrap around windshield is hideous, ugly, and impractical"

According to the pictures, the boat doesn't look like it'll have a prop or rudder either. I agree w/ Joe, that might be all they have chosen to share and could be further along and they have added that last piece of the windshield. I am excited to see how they turn out.

But like I said earlier, that tower has to be more costly than a traditional 4 foot based tower, and Titan towers arent even bad looking, and once again, I think they would be considerably cheaper than the tower in the design, not to mention they already have a huge aftermarket for biminis (regular and over the top), allowing buyers to choose to go used to save even more money possibly.

I would guess that the probability of a new boat company coming online in the near future is about ZERO! We are entering what could be the biggest worldwide depression in history!
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       11-05-2008, 4:19 PM Reply
sam, it isn't really a new boat company. Axis is affiliated with Malibu.

i agree with you, especially new boat companies w/ boats that are in the $70-80k range. but malibu's on to something with this line. i think this line would be perfect for those that are "okay" in this economy. as long as they don't equip the boat w/ a bbq grill or 8-captain's chairs.
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       11-05-2008, 5:46 PM Reply
the angles of the deck/top of the hull look malibu still....... somehow they managed to draw up a tower uglier than the titan though.

From what I see I could be an engineer/designer at a lot of boat companies....because, yikes
Old     (hamkj)      Join Date: Apr 2002       11-05-2008, 6:59 PM Reply
EXACTLY AS I THOUGHT!!!

No wonder how they managed to hit a specific price point.

No motor, no rudder, no interior...

A winner in my opinion!!!

Warranty issues should be non-existent... other than hull... but mechanically... I can't see they would ever have a problem!

While the boat isn't really my style, I think it definitely looks distinct and different from the other inboards. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for actually going out and at least attempting to build a price point boat. I think that once graphics, tower speakers, a swim deck, racks, etc are added (and it is sitting in the water) that it will look better.

If the wake is good, I think people will change their minds.
