Which boat has a more wakeboard friendly wake?
Old     (jsxstar)      Join Date: Sep 2006       10-01-2006, 8:52 PM Reply
the x-star throws the best wake out there but the x-45 is more of a family friendly boat do to the space and still has a good wakeboard wake
Old    alanp            10-01-2006, 8:56 PM Reply
i thought the beam was too wide on the x-45. it seemed to need alot of weight to throw a decent wake. i have never ridden on a sacked out x-45 and im sure it would be nice. i have ridden behind x-stars and based on wake alone i would go with the x-star

the x-45 is only 2 inches wider...

I have an X-Star...I have driven both, if your looking for best wake, you cant go past the X-Star...IMO.

In saying that, the 45 is also very nice, throws an awesome wakesurf wake, for both regular and goofy riders. We never got a chance to slam it, so I cannot give a fair review on the wakeboard wake. Really sweet boat though...

I think the X-star is rated for 13 people and the X-45 is 18. BTW, Mad Child, 2" added to the beam adds up to a lot of extra interior room. Personally I would choose the X-Star, but if you want a real comfortable boat that handles rough water well, go with the X-45.

LOL! I don't know where "out there" is but you really should consider taking a ride behind a SAN!

byrd, i was referring to alan's comment about the 45 having too wide of a beam compared to the x-star.

Xstar has 100" beam and X45 is 102" if you price the two out you can get the 45 for the same price as the Xstar. I would go with the 45 lots of room for the human ballast as well as Pro ballast. The 45 has a killer surf wake also, and the towers in '07 are very similar to each other.
Old     (woreout)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-02-2006, 7:07 PM Reply
The SAN has 91"or 92" beam, nice wake but NO room or storage to speak of. It also has permanent carpet and is not a linered boat. I guess thats why they just redesigned it.

I just bought the 45. Love it. Posting pics next week. My bro has a star and the wake is ridiculous but I'd never use it to the degree it can go. The 45 is the ultimate party/comfy boat. And the surf wake on the 45 is wayyy better than the star.

Red, to start, the 210 wake is 2nd to the x1. It has been discussed here many times and both are the same money equally equiped.

2nd. And most importatnltly, The 210 is the ugliest tow boat I have ever seen!

Stay on subject and don't high jack peoples threads just cause you are a proud owner of one of the ugliest boats out there IMO.

you can get a 45 up to 110k, but a 45 option for option is about the same price as a Xstar. Base price on '06 is around 68-69k for both. However you can load both up with everything you can think of and get close to 100k. I think some people add a few extra bucks to what they bought when posting here.

As Paul alluded to, reading must not be your strong suit:

"Red, to start, the 210 wake is 2nd to the x1. It has been discussed here many times and both are the same money equally equipped."

Where does it say the X-Star and SAN are priced equally?

(Note: it's a little hypocritical to accuse someone of saying their SAN is the best wake because they own one when you're doing the same with your X-1)

At any rate,

X-Star with over 3500 lbs. of ballast, people, gear = unbeatable (unless you're Keith Lyman and ride at 95+'...then the LSV may take the fully sacked out cake)

X-Star with less than that = easily beatable

SAN = great wake, but not for everyone...especially if you weigh over 200 lbs.

X-1 = awesome wake but needs more weight than you'd expect from such a narrow boat

X-45 = I don't know, I've never ridden one, but they look sweet

Everybody happy now? Did I give your choice of boats enough "props" for your liking?

x-star Great boat with additional ballast
x-45 more of an all around boat and great for tons of people
SAN - Pure hardcore boat for riding and small if you bring many people along
X-1 great with additional ballast

If you want to wakeboard and not haul a billion people get the x-star. Make sure that your local dealer is a good one or you will hate whatever it is that you get.

Sounds crazy TackleBerry but options add up quick. 6.0L is $9635.00 8.1 is $12365, tandem trailer $6100.00 tower speakers, lights, cover, heater, shower, fresh water wash down, perfect pass, etc. it does not take long. As for the SAN fan get your own thread you can name it NOTHING NEW.

You know I don't mean any disrespect Jeff but shouldn't you comment on everybody else hijacking the thread to post how their SAN is better instead concentrating on one guy that posted about the X1 wake being better?

Wake is just a preference guys, leave the subject alone.

I don't see how the price of a 45 could get to 110k. I think have everything possible, 8.1L, 4 lights, 4 speakers, heater, shower, tandem trailer, PP, transom remote, towing cover, bimini, etc, etc, etc. I paid 85k with tax.

Big Ed - When I see a comment like "Red, to start, the 210 wake is 2nd to the x1" without an IMO, I have to call bullsh.t. You are exactly right, wake is a preference, completely subjective. I don't see a whole lot of hijacking going on here, just some responses to comments that have been tossed out as fact, when ideed they are opinions. BTW this (hijacking) wasn't a problem on the '07 210 thread...(no disrespect)

Some people love to go above and beyond and they want everything financed with the dealer. That means power flag, triple axle trailer, multiple DVD screens etc. All ads up quick.

Options on the X 45 and Star can add up. Most who buy the 45 add just about everything you can get including a blinged out trailer and end up around 90,000. Yeah a lot of money but these are guys with money and they want what they want. Correct Craft does not have a boat that compares with the X45 in size or bling...it is a personal preference and not everyone is looking for the boat that only a couple of their closest buds and gear will fit in.

too stick to the question - Which boat has a more wakeboard friendly wake?

I have ridden both and i would say the x-star is more friendly. The x-45 is a big boat and the more weight you add the harder it is to clean the wake below 22.5 mph. If you ride at say 23.5 it is an awsome ride with six or eight people and stock ballast. But the wake does not clean up 100% until u get over 23 mph if you have 3 or more people. On the otherhand, the x-star seemed to have a clean wake at any speed and weight.

Sat in the 236 at Expo. The tower on the CC is ridiculously hard to lay forward unless you are very tall. No kidding CC and MC are the two best on the market imo. I just like the friendly ribbing that goes on here. If there was only one brand of boat it would'nt be as much fun now would it.

Oh yes, options add up quick. I was just happy they had that binding lube pump on the day I bought or I would have been in real pain. LOL.

And yes I did in fact pay $111,300 for a 2007 X-45. I put everything on it. I use my boat for business as often as I do for pleasure, so that's why I went for it. I take delivery on saturday. Yes, there will be pictures of the new infamous:

i will get to see the boat on saturday too. i helped him with some of the option choices. there is chrome cupholders, chrome speaker grills and upgraded stereo system, auto flag. think the only thing that it does not have is the binding lube pump. it does have the sic switch graphics on it tho. most x-stars fully loaded come out to around 90K with the MXC engine. that L1 corvette engine is a huge upgrade.

When it becomes a tax write off, why not!!!!!

I just love the random insertion of SAN up there. How does it relate to the original request for intel? Absolutely zero. Just some guys retardedly biased opinion, thanks for sharing, you've done NOTHING to help.

Let me just get it over with.

You d-bags copy one of the following:Malibu 247, Supra 24v, Tige 24ve, Moomba XLV, Sanger V230, MB Tomcat, ___________

Then pick one of these: is better than what you have. Because I said so and I like my boat & like to justify my spending so I therefore look cooler.

or: has a much better wake because my one friend who does barrel rolls said so. I have yet to clear the wake but my friend said I should try a whirlybird, I guess my wake is good for those. Can you hear that sub? yeah!

In regards to the question. IMO the X-Star has an incredible wake when loaded to the gills. Big, thick, really wide and user friendly. The 45 is a beast and less wake specific, it can get there but is tough on the beginner.

Mastercraft guy? I am not a boat owner, I'm simply commenting on the question that was asked. I'm the impartial 3 man that likes all boats. Ask Tackleberry, I love his SAN wake. Its one of the best wakes I've ever ridden. But on this post it has no bearing whatsoever.

Red, of your thirty some posts at least half have been you poaching on someones quest for valid opinions. Your rhetoric helps no one.

Now you may say that since I don't own a boat I can't talk ish. (Some have presented this point). I say that for someone that wants legit info I'm the best there is. I ride them all and I have no agenda. But when it comes to answering a question or coming straight outta left field I choose to not comment on posts that I don't know crap about. For example, you and Mastercraft X-Stars or X-45s. Your owners goggles have somehow given you the idea that anyone cares. Good day.

For your info, I have owned 9 tournament style boats and 15 boats total, it's sort of a hobby to buy, fix-up and sell them. I have owned 2 MB Sports, 3 Correct Crafts, 1 Malibu, 1 Sanger and 2 Mastercraft. Most all had fiberglass damage that I bought at insurance sales. I think I am pretty well versed in the quality and construction of all the boats and have a pretty educated opinion. I've been wakeboardin for 8 years, so I have a pretty educated opinion on wakes too. Thanks for asking...

Red is living in the past, there is nothing wrong with the SAN its just OLD. CC has, and always will be one of the best, but reluctant to change with the times. They are just like RED {who does not even have a boat} must relish in past accomplishments. CC is always the guy saying hey, hey, what about us? We have a wakeboard boat that used to be talked about like the Xstar and X45 and X2, its the best! CC's are great boats and always will be. Just do us a favor RED get your own post. Maybe bring up the BAREFOOT NAUTIQUE it used to be badass.

Actually Billy,
I have fixed up and sold an X-Star and X2, 2 SANTES, and a B-52, all newer than 2003. I have rode behind them all. If that doesn't allow me to have an opinion, I don't know what does. I have also been behind an X-Star and X45 and still prefer the SAN. I will get my own post when I want, but if you keep referring to me in this one I will keep replying. Also I didn't start the SAN interjection in this post, I merely followed it up!

Billy- definitely go demo them both all day. They're such great boats in their own ways. The 45 is simply a lot bigger with more storage and a better surf wake. The 45 can hold 10 people and have plenty of room still; that's why I bought it. The wakeboard wake on the star is hands-down the best and if you only ever ride with 4-6 people, then that is your boat. You can save 20k as well. The fit and finish on the boats will be the same. This year, same towers and everything.

I'm not buying, but your right he should demo both and make his decision. 20k is a stretch base MSRP is within 2k of each other. The Xstar comes with a few more standard options though, like Perfect Pass etc.

While everyone is on the subject of the X-45, I happen to have one with almost every option (did not get the binding blaster because I had one on my X-Star and never used it). Wetsounds on the tower, incredibly beautiful boat. If someone feels the urge to spend $100k plus, I would be happy to put a big bow on it and deliver it anywhere in the U.S.

I don't disclose the history of the boats that I sell. They usually are resold at an automotive dealer auction here in Phoenix where everything is don't ask don't tell. I couldn't really sell the boats to buyers myself without telling them the history of the boats. From what I know, most end up back east in Kentucky or some place at some big used boat brokers yard. I do have some close up photos though that don't expose a specific color scheme, or they would probably never sell, that I will scan and post tonight though. Most of the boats that I get are from Havasu and Powell storms although Lake Pleasant sometimes produces some, they usually have hull or engine damage.
