I have narrowed it down to two boats, both are 2000, one is X-star with less than 300 hours for 29,500...the maristar 230 has 600 hours for 35k, no ballast...neither of them have perfect pass..I really like both boats...any input would be greatly appreciated..

Both are overpriced, but the 230 is really overpriced. If wakeboarding is your primary concern, offer less on the X and buy it.

I've rode behind a Maristar 230 a few times that had a tower and ballast. I'd go with the X-Star unless you need a larger boat.

someone is out of their mind on the maristar

I am gonna agree with these guys and say both are a tad overpriced. If you have 35k you should be able to get a pretty loaded wakeboard specific V-drive.

Perfect pass, ballast, tower, the works.

Keep looking.

that is what I thought about the Maristar, I was going to offer 27k on the x-star, I would like a bigger boat, but then you are always using yours, kind of like the guy with the bigger car always drives...

The 2000 xstar has the single piece sundeck and the crappy tower. I would offer around 25K. You should be able to find 2001 xstars this winter for around 28-29K. I just sold my 01 for 30.

Oh thats the honest truth Joe. Although We ran our X-30 (230) with about 1,400 extra lbs and the Wake was pretty damn good. I'd still go with the X-Star.

thanks Paul, I dont want to wait until summer, I sold my Cobalt after owning it for two months and made 7k, so I need a boat for the rest of the summer, looks like I am going to go after the X-star, it is in very good shape and very clean...

I did a search using the years 2001-2004, Manu; Mastercraft, price range; 25-33K. I saw a 2003 X2 in Florida at a dealership listed as an X7 for 31 and some change. That might be worth a drive as long as they don't find out the mistake they made.

For that price I'd hop my butt on a cheap Jet Blue flight. Looking for those kind of deals finally got me the boat I wanted!

We had the X30 for 4 years and loved it. nice wake, would go for one again. I sold the 01 X30 a couple of months ago, loaded for $ 31,300.00 with 480 hrs. The 230 is high with out anything on it.

I would def say the price on the 230 is high. As to the 2000 X-star price. That is average depending on what type of options are on it and what type of shape it is in. Everyone ones idea of clean is VERY DIFFERENT. There is gonna be about 3-6 k difference on price for an 01 due to the fact it has a newer style tower, different vinyl, graphics and a the 3 piece hatch in the back vs,. 1 huge sundeck on the 2000. Owning a boat with the one piece(my 2000) the 3 piece is def a nice feature, but I wasn't upgrading for just that.......The wake and boat are still the same. Again that price for the 20o0 X-star is fair that is what they are asking I am sure so you cana pick it up for less. But again depends on options and condition as well.

You can't always go by just the nada value. These specific boats are in such high demand that it has messed with their value. Especially if one is very clean and well maintained. There is nothing hotter on the market these days if you ask me than used top 3 V-drive wakeboats in the 30k range. But again make sure you know it was cared or right otherwise it can be a nightmare.

If you wnat room, a little better rough water ride, and a very versatile boat than can do many things well go 230. if you want purely pro-caliber wake, ferrari driving and a little better ski wake go for the X-star. Either way both boats are a good choice just depends on your specific needs and wants. You have to give up some things in order to get others so you have to prioritise on which are the most important to you.

thanks Swatguy, put an offer on the X-star this afternoon. I think the 35k was a bit high for the maristar, I like the room and the look of it, but I rarely have more than 5 or so out and usually go to tahoe only a handful of times a year. Most of the time it gets so rough, it doesnt matter what boat you have, my 25 ft. cobalt was ideal for up there, but it still rode rough at times
