I have a 2000 Xstar and got everything installed and wired and all I have left is the hole to drill. There are 2 places I can drill the hole, to the left of the water intake or left of water intake but about 6 inches back. Can anyone attach and pics or tell me where the best place would be?

Other question is I board in salt water only and the instructions said to paint the whole paddle wheel housing with anti fouling paint, I am afraid the wheel may not run smoothly, anyone else board in salt or has had problems with the paddle wheel gettign mucked up? Any advice would be appreciated.

Happy Holidays.

I dont think they would advise you to paint it with a anti fouling paint if it would make there product defective. They would not put it in there reccomendations on what to do for salt water.

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering if I should just leave it alone. Can you also tell me where your paddle wheel is located. It looks like I can install it in two places. One right next to the water intake and the other option is right next the the engine. They say it is better if the paddle wheel is farther back. I attached some pics.

thx

Since I went through this recently, and took pics, here it is. The main thing is to put the paddle wheel 6-7" off centerline with nothing in front of it for 6 feet to minimize turbulence. I put mine in the Vdrive location because I like lots of weight in the back. It works like a champ. As for saltwater and antifouling paint, I have no idea. I definitely would seal the hole with epoxy to prevent blistering as shown here.
