well when me and my dad took the boat out on the water it worked fine for a while and then just stopped......kind of slowed down then stopped and the engine shut off. When we started it back up the check engine light went on and i went into like the "Safe Mode" where it wouldnt go over a certain speed. Also when we put it in reverse it would sound like it was grinding gears. Once we got home we took it to someone who knew about boats and we replaced the oil and transmission fluid thinking that was it and we went out again and it ran for a while but then just stopped and did the same thing.
so basically the check engine light goes on and it sounds like it is grinding gears.
