Wow. Note to self, don't buy a boat from that guy. I wonder what his prop looks like after runs like that, not to mention the gel coat.

It is the guy's boat...a '92...he can do what he wants. I am sure that he is breaking the ice so he can ride. I have heard plenty of stories about people doing this up north.

I heard something about Mastercraft advertising their AK Edition Prostars a while back, they are made to actually tow a rider while breaking through ice up to 6" thick. There was something special about the hull that threw the ice chunks out far enough that the rider had clear water on either side of the wake so they could cut out. I thought it might have been a little promo for some pros, but I guess this guy got his hands on one.

I've put my old mc through much thicker ice than that. I actually had the wakeboard skate across the surface the ice was that thick. Only problem that happened on the first run clearing the ice was overheating as ice blocked the raw water intake.

Look at the video description: "The lake was a little frozen at the south end. I should have had the camera for the first time through, but it still crunches pretty good the second and third laps around." hahaha

What? You southerners don't have to do this. Normally you just weight the boat and run a surf wake along the edge to break it up before you drive through it. That ice did not look to be as thick as the purported 2" in the video. Next thing you'll be telling me you have to wear scuba outfits for riding instead of Speedos.

OK, I confess, thats actually Ferney. The point is that if you want to ride & get better, you do it in all kinds of conditions. We rode on Christmas Eve day, 28 degree air, 38 degree water, in a brand new 2010 VLX. The ramp was so slick, guys had to sit down & scoot down to the edge of the water to avoid falling on their butt. BTW, I swapped email with the guy who posted that first video. He has done that every year for over 10 yrs. And has never had any damage to his boat. I'm sure all of you who make such wise comments know what your talking about..... or maybe not. Hey you got to do what it takes to get good water, right? Looks like you had the lake to yourself.
