Portland riders put Monday July 27th on your calendar. We need as much representation as possible at this meeting. I was just fighting the same issues on Lake Oswego and we successfully over turned several of the proposed rules:
Marine Board to Hold Special Meeting on Proposed Rules for Holgate Channel, Ross Island Lagoon
The Oregon State Marine Board is holding a special evening meeting scheduled for Monday, July 27, to consider proposed rules for boat operation in the Ross Island Lagoon and the Holgate Channel on the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
In March, the Marine Board received a petition, which was modified in April, requesting a no-wake-zone in the Holgate Channel between Ross Island and the east bank of the Willamette River and in the Ross Island Lagoon. The petition was submitted by Willamette Riverkeeper, the Urban Green Spaces Institute and the Portland Audubon Society. A public hearing was held May 27 with public comment accepted throughout May. The Board decided to address this petition in a special meeting in close proximity to the waterbody.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the auditorium of the Portland Building, 1120 SW Fifth Ave, in Portland. There may be an opportunity for public testimony.
