Powdercoating a Tower

I was wondering if any of you know who would powdercoat a tower and what the price would be in socal? Would it have to be done by the dealer? Any idea's on price? Thanks

take off anything you dont want to be powdercoated, including screws hinges and attachments. Word to the wise any rubber gaskets or anything will be melted at that temperature (400+degrees) I had my tower powder coated blue to match my boat and paid 100 bucks even, which im told was just the minimum charge at the shop.

The dealer sent it to Pro-Coat before they put the tower on the boat.

towers are easy to take off and put back on, especially when mounted.

you will have to take the tower off due to the fact that they have to bake the powder. That is how it works, they spray the powder and then bake it on. Otherwise you might want to look at a wet paint.

This was done locally in CT. Not sure on the price, but powdercoated in '04 to also match the Vapor Blue. Came out much better than expected and would do it again over paint.

Just wanted to add that we decided to leave the pylon part bare silver. It adds a nice touch and looks great. It picks up the silver on the lights, speakers, and winsdshield. Fully colored looks great, but you may wanna keep the pylon part bare, looks great either way.

Just make sure you protect the powdercoating from the sun with Wax, Formula 303 or be in a covered parking spot.

My powdercoated tower is fading badly after only 3 years because it sat out in the sun all the time.

I paid $100 in Sacramento for my powder coat job. Make sure if you have any threads for bolts/heim joints that go into your tower, you put a scrap bolt in there or you will need to retap the holes. Even still you might need to retap.

I was going to post this as a new thread but it seems to fit here. The chrome on my speakers has always been a bitch to clean so I had them powder coated and the bezels re-chromed.

Hey Brett: What kind of Speaker can's are thoes.
My first guess is 13th floor because of the large light but the mounts looks custom, So I give up wha are they. They look cool

That is the stock setup that came with the boat. 2003 X-30. I don't know who made them but I need to get covers for them or a tower sock. The lights do look cool but I never use them and they let air pass through the can and blow the speaker in the rear.

Another thing you will want to do if you are going to take the time to powder coat a tower and that is a clear coat finish it will tripple the life of the coating and give it a wet look (expect a 40% hike in price but it is worth the extra dough) also if the boat has a colored deck go with an accent color choice it will look better for example the shop boat is a Session 22si see pic its a yellow boat with red accent in the logo and seats so I chose red. Another thing I did and you may want to consider is powder coating all the stainless handrails and widow struts it looks trick and won't cost you much more because the cost in this progress is the overall setup (labor) hanging a few more pieces on the rack isn't muck of a hassle!
