http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...nant-countries

the 8 highest scoring gymnasts compete in the final. If 3 girls from one country qualify, the one with the lowest score of the three, cannot advance.

So, the 8 competing for the gold, might not be the best 8 scores in the preliminaries.

Hmmmm

spread the wealth
make it "fair" for everybody

sound familiar in today's climate?

Yes I saw them talking about this STUPID rule. They were saying that the Person that Qualify's 28th is not even gonna be any where near the level of the The US gymnast that did not make it. they all agreed it was lame and it should be changed, they said it was so that other countrys would be given a chance to be show cased.

On another Not. I was watching the Olympic Road bike Race. They showed a Guy getting lapped on the 4th of 9 lap's The guy was from IRAN. I was like WTF how did this guy get into this race? Sound like its not just in gymnastics that they lower the Bar to let countrys that could never make it in on their own into the olympics

Cliff,
Just remember that the olympic athletes didn't actually earn their positions, they didn't do it, someone else did... It took the great conservative savior, Willard Mitt Romney, to remind us all that,

"You Olympians, however, know you didn’t get here solely on your own power. For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities." - Willard Mitt Romney
