Are fire wires for camcorders brand name specific? I have a cannon zr70, and I need a fire wire to transfer video to my computer, but I am getting rid of it soon to get a panasonic, will the fire wire work with both?

firewire is not brand specific, but there are different connectors involved. Most (all that I have seen) DV camcorders use the same type of firewire cable.
