Quick help - choosing between 2 surfboards

Hey guys, just getting into surfing and want to buy a board. We will wakeboard most of the time, but want to surf when it's a little chop out.

I am working with Grizzly Sports on a board. They told me the Ronix Stage 5-4 (linked below) is a great all around board. I also like the Hyperlite BroadCast 4-9 as well.
Different shapes - which one is going to give us newbies a better ride short term and something we can rock out for a year or two?

Nate,
I have a hyperlite coex 4'4 I believe is what it is. I know it's the smallest one hyperlite makes and I can ride the wave for a long time. It took me two times total to learn to ride without the rope on the board, haven't tried anything else though. If you want to try my board out let me know, I'll be out on the river hopefully friday saturday and sunday. Let me know man.

Check out the wakesurf thread. Seems as though if you want a board that will hold up well you should look at the companies who are making wake surf boards rather than wakeboard companies branching out to make surfers.

Hyperlite makes a good board. Havent tried the Ronix.

I have been on both. At 220, I could not make the HL work for me. Too small. The Ronix is easy to ride, but less manuverable. I bought the Ronix.

We own the broadcast. We dave had it a few years now. My daughter wanted a smaller board to do more tricks on. We demo'ed the hyperlite coex, the hyperlite swell and the liquid force custom. She far preferred the liquid force. It is a handmade board and is very bouyant. It is slicker than the broadcast fore sure, but everyone in the family loves it. Haven't tried the ronix.

I own the RONIX and love it. Definitely not terribly maneuverable but super easy to ride. Good board to chill out on and i usually ride it with my 6 year old on my shoulders.

I like the shorter boards personally can do more spins with them. I ride the biggest broadcast and am in the market for a shorter board. Ride it before you buy it
