We go houseboating every year in June at Lake McClure. With the bad economy we thought we could strike a better deal this year. The Houseboat ownership would not budge 1 penny. They informed us that the week in June we wanted, there were no boats reserved!
Today I found a killer deal on a houseboat at Don Pedro. 59' boat for $1799 for 5 days. Anyway, we are not familiar with Don Pedro and are looking for good spots to anchor up and ride. Any info. is appreciated. Here is a link to the special if anyone is interested in houseboating with this company at a variety of lakes in the US.....

Actually the AD shows it as $1999 but the "Spring into Summer" promotion is for another $300 discount. That makes it $1699 for 5 days.

my favorite is to anchor in the water fall. its a cove that everyone goes to party at but during the week no one is there and the waterfall is right there. then when you leave there the main body of water outside the cove is butter in the morning and at night.

Thanks Billy,
Where are the falls in relation to Lake Don Pedro Marina (Flemming Meadows)? Upload

Rod, I think the best place to be on Don Pedro is anywhere between Moccasin Point marina and the spot where Billy mentioned. It's on the East side of the lake but you've got a little strike from the Lake Don Pedro Marina where you'll be renting your houseboat. There are skinny arms and some cool little coves where the wind affects the water condition way less than the main channel and that whole rest of the lake. I go all the time and I don't even bother going anywhere between the waterfall and LDP marina.

Rod,
If you drew a straight line from the 02 right next to Moccasin Point to where it says Old Don Pedro Road it would be right where the line crosses the lake on the 02 side. It's behind a somewhat medium/large size island where the power lines cross... there are 5mph buoys on both sides of the island where the water separates it from the shoreline

Thanks Jesse,
How far do you think it is from LDP Marina to the falls?

I love Pedro for houseboating.

Stay near the falls. You wont be disappointed. It's almost directly at the halfway point (about 7 miles) between the marinas. That center bay is perfect to ride in the morenings and at night. The valley toward Moccasin point is the best spot mid day and is only a couple minutes from that center bay.

I think marina to marina is 14 miles. Theres a sign half way. The falls are pretty close to the middle.

Thanks guys, I just almost transferred from LDP marina to Moccasin Point, but it was going to be a $50 transfer fee. That would have been a waste of $50 if the falls are in the middle. Thanks for all of your insight. We will be there from June 9th thru the 13th if anyone wants to stop by for a coldie.

I think the sign near the falls is, I believe 7mi to Moccasin and 9mi to LDP Marina. The only thing about renting from Moccasin is that you'd have more options throughout your trip to anchor... if your group is the type which likes to drop ship at different cool spots.

Ill be there the 13th through 15th. Flemming meadows. A day late. Jealous of the houseboat vs. our tent. Housebooating is the only way to go.

Jesse,
Gas will be 5-6 a gallon. We will probably find a good spot a call it good.
Rich,
We do a trip every year and then a few camp trips. The houseboat is excellent if you can find the right group, which we have. Camping is 100% better then being at home!

Yeah, Ill give ya that. My cousin used to have a house boat at Shasta and we'd go up there every year. He sold it a few years back and I miss it. But I'll take camping over mowing the lawn or picking up after the dogs any day. FYI it will probably be busy at the falls as the falls will be running and thats were everybody hangs. So if thats where your going be prepared for music all day. If you want quiet thats probably not the spot.

Rich,
We are going Mon- Friday. If there are people partying at the falls we will consider that a bonus. We are there to have a great time and the more the merrier! Thanks again for all the info.
