i've been thinking of an absolute, prodigy, transcend for some time now. i rode a 2003 Prodigy Platinum today and i had some likes and dislikes. i dislike how it felt i was plowing water w/ the board, and it was hard to get going, now the slow speed made me feel more in control, so im up in the air about the slowness, but plowing the water was no good. i liked the pop, it was similar to my LF Substance. i didnt like the molded center fin, i like a little looser, all though i could work w/ the board, it did track well. the best part about this board was the landings, they were soo smooth like butta. now i was wondering is the absolute very similar to this w/ the looser faster feel? if it is im going w/ that, i heard transcend is slow so i might not like it.

I spent 1 year on a 2004 plat Prodigy and 3 years on an 03/04 absolute. I liked the Prodigy, and although I think they ride similar, the Absolute just does everything a little better in my experience. Pops a little harder, lands a little softer, tracks a little better (on landings too). The Absolute probably isn't going to be any faster for you, but both are a whole lot faster than the Transcend. If you hate the plowing through the water feeling, don't get the Transcend. If you have a chance you should try the Marius too. (Message edited by jarrod on July 13, 2005)

One more thing: I was comparing 04 Absolute to 04 Prodigy. The 05 Absolute rides quite a bit different from a prodigy.

05 = bigger rocker, longer & thinner molded-in fins, step down tail(?).

I just got the prodigy platinum 140. I have to say its the best board I have ever ridden. Never ridden the absolute platinum, but CWB sure does make a good board.

the 05 definitely pops bigger and grippier (is that a word?) than the 04. it's a tad slower, but not a big deal. it lands soft like the 04.

I didn't really notice a difference in the pop. Although it should pop harder in theory. The longer, thinner molded fins mentioned by Joe do make it ride a little tighter though. Just a little. I ride the 04 with fins and the 05 without. I would agree that it is slighlty slower too. Just a little. I can't wait to see what happens in 06.

hmmmm, this is tough, hoping for you guys to say yeah absolute is same but better and alittle faster. speed isnt a huge issue for me, i mean it will just make me even more controlled then i am now, but that plowing water kinda feels ackward.

I think as you increase your boat speed, the speed of the board won't bother you as much. The drag will be far less noticable when you start lengthing the rope and riding at 23-25.
