I just got a new Mobius LSV with Mako 6.5" tube speakers on the tower. I keep the boat in semi-private storage and am worried about theft. Now, I am unscrewing all speakers and racks. I'd like to set up a quick release for the speakers and secure the racks. Any advice on a Quick Release for the speakers, or tamperproof screws? How to, where to buy, pros/cons, etc. Thanks!!

These are pretty sweet, but a little on the spendy side.

If the tower tubes are 2" you can use stage lighting clamps. They come in aluminum and even look decent.

The cans for these Makos have half of the clamp welded on...so it appears. Is there a way to remove this and uses a new clamp? Or is there some other way? I just don't understand how I can use a new clamp when the existing one is attached to the tube. Thanks!

This is a funny issue to me because it is like the origional pull out stereos. You may be able to remove them easily but if you don't someone else can. I use torx bolts instead of hex bolts and it makes it difficult for someone else to take off but fairly easy for you. Just my opinion. Oh yeah, it is cheaper this way too! Good Luck!

Where did you get your torx bolts? How unique/hard would it be to get that driver? I'd like to put some of those on my racks.

Check this stuff out..something I have thought of.But idiots will the go after speakers...rip them...waste of time.If you use thumb screws and take box off...no problem.

Here are some thumb screws...but I would take nice bolts to a welder(tig) and make my own.

Sorry, I had to drop a bit of Jay and Silent Bob.
Here's a link to a company that sells Torx bolts online. I've never bought from them because there's a place locally for this stuff. But anyways, there is a whole slew of different types that are tamper resistant. Take a look!!! In fact I would go with one of the other types(Penta or spline, etc) because those are VERY rare bits that pretty much nobody would have in their portable tool kit.
