pump configuration

Yes I know ballast systems have been questioned to death but I have I guess a different question. Right now, I have 3 attwood 750s for each of my sacs. the only problem is that they best place for them, right by the thru hull, couldn't be done. So the pumps have about 1.5-2 feet of plumbing and valves and such before the water gets to the pumps. Now I want to use sprinkler valves, and so far they have worked quite well since the valves are mounted on the pumps. Here is my question. Will I gain a substantial amount of flow if I take out the three 750s and put one 2000 right on the the thruhull? And if so, will a 1in thru hull and 1 in to the manifold then 3/4 be enough to handle the 2000 gph pump? and last question, where is the best place to get a 2000 rule/ cheapest? thanks and sorry to drag the ballast questions out

You can get a whole lot more flow by ditching the sprinkler valves. They are very restrictive. Go with flow-rite, zero restriction. www.flow-rite.com

well, I would love to do the flowrite valves, but I already have the sprinkler valves and they work well enough. Also, I don't feel like wasting the sprinkler valves and spending over 100 on valves. Thanks for the advice though.

I think that it would be a waste of time if you replace your pump, but still have those restrictive sprinkler valves.

I'm getting ready to swap my Attwood 750's for Rule 1100's, I think I will put 1" sprinkler valves in place of the 3/4" I currently have. There will still be a bottleneck at the bag (3/4") but it will be faster than what I have. I also don't want to go to the expense and hassle of using the Flow Rite valves. I am thinking about trying a vacuum operated automotive heater valve. they are all ABS, 3/4", low restriction, and cost 6$ I have to figure out how to switch the vacuum, I could always use the climate controls from an old Sedan Deville or something! Has anybody tried this one yet?

Well I guess me main question is, Would getting a 2000 gph rule and putting it in a better location be worth the trouble, or should I just leave my setup alone?

I put two 2000 GPH pumps in my fil system and it pumps great, but I went with 1" pipe instead of 3/4". I had 3/4" in before and it was much slower filing 1100 lbs. Switched to the 1" and saved about 5 minutes in fill time. The 1100 gph pumps are about half the price and do a much better job then the Attwoods also, so you could consider that. The main thing is the size tubing you use getting to the bags. I ran one main tube with branches off of that to my separate bags and it works great. Fills in about 5 minutes tops.
