My name is chad Payton and in October I injured my knee training with glen fletcher trying tootsie rolls. Got my MRI and MCl and acl were torn. I'm just gettin frustrated with the doctors because none of them know to what extent my acl was torn and they don't know how they are going to do surgery. The surgery would include having to drill through my growth plates and taking the chance of disrupting my knee growth and i am so sick of it.

Chad keep your head up. Get the camera out take some pics of your brothers or people you ride with. Or you can help them out with tricks. There is nothing better than telling someone how to do a trick and they land it.

I rember this little stingy kid riding in the chop at Don Pedro at the Central Valley Marine Reunion. You were so determined to land that 180 and when you hit it you were so stoked. Look at you now your trying tootsie rolls.

It will pass in no time and you will be back out there killing it again. I have been there and done the whole knee serg. If ya have any questions pm me. Ya I know its very frustrating for the Dr's to get ya back together again.

I feel ya man. I broke my foot 7 months ago and it's still not healed. It's getting really really irritating because I can't run, train or a lot of things I need to be doing right now for softball. Good luck.

Just take a deep breath and remember even with technology what it is today some things still take time. Give them the time they need and do what hey ask even if it means laying on your couch getting fat for months. Trust me 9 broken bones later your long term recovery is far more important then getting back on the water this spring. Every break I have hurts every morning and most of the day because I was to stupid to take it easy for a little time like directed. Good luck to all of you!

Chad, atleast, it's too cold to ride right now. it's the off season. your knee will be healed eventually and when it is you'll get revenge on the tootsie roll. cant wait to see it.

The hardest part right now is not knowing for sure how severe the tear of the ACL is. The docs know it is torn but not to what degree. They are planning on doing a diagnostic artho to see. But if the ACL is torn enough we have a difficult decision to make, 2 docs so far do not want to do surgery on him cause he is too young and his growth plates are still very open. Even with new technology it still is risky on young kids. We go see 2 more docs in the next few weeks. For now it is just a matter of getting serious about his PT, and getting his new brace fitted.

Thank you all for you kind words. I know he is not the only one who has suffered injuries, it is hard watching your children be hurt.

Chad, sounds you're in a tough position. Sorry man.

Are the risks lower if you wait a year or two for the surgery? Is that even an option as far as the doctors are concerned?

You're going to need to find something else to focus on while your knee gets better. Find something else that you can progress at to take your mind off of it. It's a great time to ask Santa for a dirtbike! Okay...that's no easier on the knees.

Chad, hang in there! At least its your off season, and you're young and strong and we know you'll get better! Not to mention we're all praying for you!And rehab will help a lot too! Just keep in mind of all these other great riders who have succeeded, like Chris Dykmans, Dallas Friday, and many other local riders! i Miss seeing you last weekend and I hope to meet up with all of you soon!

Hey Chad- Lots of people, including us, are keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. Stay on the rehab and things will be a lot more stable and you will progress a lot faster when you can ride. In the mean time, you can always work on your tagging career.

Chad, when i was your age about 13 or so, i was doing scarecrows and just through one a little early once, tore my acl. I was to ignorant for my own good didn't want to go to doctor. So i continued to put it off, for about a year then it just kept popping all the time. SO they were almost positive to give me surgery but we decided to do some rehab and strengthen the muscles around it. Best decision i've made, been good, still hurts when its cold out but living with it. Best of luck

Hill your SOL buddy you just need to get that 360 and BS roll.
