Wake the World has exploded this year! The number of events have tripled in one year. We finished the season with 9 events in 7 states, over 200 volunteers, 90 boats, 4 pro riders and approximately 500 kids!

We started our year with "Wake N Flake". This is our annual fundraiser. Riders wakeboard behind brand new boats, eat lunch, get a hooded sweatshirt then go snowboarding in the evening, all to raise money for WTW.

WTW provides watersports opportunities to kids in Children's Homes that would not normally have the opportunity.

WTW NC on Badin Lake for 2 days Jr. Women's World Champion- Emylee Wright was there
WTW NC on Lake James
WTW Alabama
WTW Kansas City
WTW Texas
WTW Tennessee
WTW SoCal Ricky Gonzales & Randall Harris were there
WTW Lake Mead Will Christien & Jimmy Trasck were there

On the morning of our last event, WTW Oregon became official for the 2012 season.

For 2012, all of our events will be sanctioned and insured by the WWA. These events are not that hard to do. The first one is the hardest, only because you have to get the ball rolling. After that the rest is fairly simple.

If you are interested or know someone that may interested, let me know. We have a package of details and step by step instructions about putting on an event.

Here is a video from our Texas event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXs5zTQYBc0

WTW is also piloting a new adaptive (handicap) program for 2012. Will Speed will be helping develop that program.

Just in the last 2 weeks, we have had inquiries for 14 new locations for WTW! New for next year: Oregon, Florida and Virginia. Others that are likely: Denver, Chicago, Wisconsin, Connecticut and Alberta. Others that are considering it: Georgia, St. Louis, South Carolina, Lake Wylie NC, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

For those of you that may be interested, let me give you the first few steps of making an event happen.

1. Find the group home or children's home. I have done this by using google maps. Zoom to you area and then search "children's home" or "group home". Make sure they are OK with the program. There are several videos out there plus our website for them to look at. You can make you first contact via email. Don't promise you are going to do this, just find out if they would participate if you do.

2. Find a suitable venue. You will want a place that can handle the number of boats and is safe to load and unload your passengers. We plan for 3-4 kids per boat. So if you have 30 kids you will want 8 - 10 boats. (you can do it with more or less boats, this is just a goal so that you have flexibility either way).

3. Set a date. (we plan for a weekday for safety & dock space) Once you have these 3 things, you won't believe how easily things come together. Don't believe it, just look at Wake the World Oregon on facebook. They made it official on Sept. 24th and they are getting all kinds of support.

4. Talk about it. If you just talk about it people will suprise you.
