Here it is a full day after our 3rd annual event is over and I am still an emotional wreck! The inspirational stories that you experience and hear from others at the end of the day just taps your emotions.

This event was so special for me on so many levels. For starters, We were blessed with an awesome venue change 9 days before the event. Big thanks to Chris at The Old North State Club for inviting us to have our event at a fantastic country club/marina!!

The couple (Bobby & Sonia Dalke) who brought some girls to our church that inspired the idea, were there for the first time.

One of the original girlsthey brought that day was there.(Paulina)

For the first time we had volunteers from other states. Heath (AL), Ryan (TX), Tim (OH) and Alan(VA).

We finally got got media coverage from 2 different TV stations. One has already aired and here is the link.

A few years ago, after I survived a bad crash, I was aking myself, "What am I doing that is making a difference in anybody else's life?" After doing this for 3 years now, I feel like I am heading down the path that God wants me to travel.

It was definitely an AWESOME event and the kids will have some great memories of their day on the lake.

I drove from OH and towed our boat over from TN and would do it again in a heartbeat just to see the faces of the kids and hear their excitement. We had a girl in our group who had never been on a boat before and didn't know how to swim. Ryan had to hold her hands to get her to even step on the boat. By the end of the afternoon, we couldn't get her out of the water or the grin off her face!!! There are many stories like these that come out of an event like this. I would strongly encourage everyone to participate in these events. It could be one of the most rewarding things that you ever do (with or without your boat) in your life.

I plan on hosting an event in TN (Norris Lake) next year.

When we started this it was about helping the kids. It has turned into so much more than that. I am seeing adult's lives transformed. It makes all of us want to be better people.

For the last couple of years we have held this event at an old marina that has been closed down for years.(very thankful for it). The docks were getting in bad shape (very thankful for it), the buildings are run down, no electric, no water, no toilet, can't lock anything up. (but very thankful to have a place). Nine days before the event, I was searching to find a better place for next year. I ended up at The Old North State Club http://www.oldnorthstateclub.com/ . As I walked up to the Marina manager, Chris, I said, " Hi, I'm Greg Hodgin and I'm with Wake..." He interupted, "Wake the World. I know who you are and what you do. What can we do to get you to come here?" And there it was just like that... WTW got a serious upgrade. The people at the marina rolled out the red carpet for us! They waited on us like we were royalty!

After the event, Chris (marina manager) said, "I've been looking for something in my life. I have found it with Wake the World. I want to be involved with everything you do."

WOW! I can tell several similar stories. My point is. It's not just about the kids anymore. It's about all of us......

After returning to Texas after my trip to Wake the World in North Carolina I have been asked by a lot of people "How was it?". So far the only words I have been able to come up with is "Life Changing". This is one of the greatest events if not the best I ever been a part of. What Greg has started is nothing short of amazing and it was an honor to be there. The smiles and laughs coming form these kids are still stuck in my head. We effected a lot of kids lives and I made some lifelong friends.

I cannot wait for Wake the World Texas here in a few weeks!
