Just got it unwrapped in the driveway today. Still waiting for speakers, lights, bimini, etc., but I thought I'd share some pics...

That Trailer is so sick!!

Wow that thing is pimp! Luxurious and elegant. That's the nicest looking boat I've seen.

Can't wait to see it with speakers on the tower and a bimini to see if I really like the tower or not. From some angles the look is fresh and cutting edge. From others I'm not so sure, but I think it will grow on me.

Nice, Dave! What kind of speakers are you getting?

It's one of the less-popular brands, but I hear that they can hang with the top names. They're called "whatever they send me."

That thing is sweet I think I like the tower the chrome makes it pop. White makes it look super clean I even like the wake setter on the side helps break it up a little. Very Niiiiiiiccccccceeeeee

The carpet is coming, but it's snap-in carpet now.

WOW!!! That is one SWEET ride! Might as well spill some grape kool-ade and put a scratch on there to get it over with! ;-D Very Nice!

Kids are in it right now playing "captain," so I'm sure the scratches are coming!

YIKES. Very nice. And I had to take my brand-owner goggles off to squint harder at those pics.

(Note to self: there's not just the brand I bought into but multiple worthy brands.)

Malibu will win some over by adding the removable carpeting. Seems silly but if you've never had it it's a huge deal. SWEET ride.
Old     (ralph)      Join Date: Apr 2002       09-04-2009, 6:21 PM Reply
Wow, beautiful. I drove an 09 a few months ago, staggered at how such a big boat performs.
Old     (tj_in_kc)      Join Date: Jan 2008       09-04-2009, 6:38 PM Reply
i think the snap-out carpet is the biggest improvement on the boat. is wish my bu had that.

Also, the new tower is still a little tough for me. is it one of those things when you see it in person it looks a lot better??

i love the Maliview also.

Beautiful Boat and Trailer! What size are those rims on the trailer?
Old     (norcalbordr)      Join Date: Feb 2006       09-04-2009, 6:48 PM Reply
So sick. The 2010 tower is gonna take some getting used to for me though. But the original Illusion tower took about a summer for me to like as well when it first came out and now I love it.

I used to think snap-in carpet was the dumbest thing in the world. Then you get your boat really wet a few weekends in a row and it starts smelling funny and you think, "I've got too much carpet in there soaking up water!" This will be my first time without full carpeting and I'm looking forward to it. I also like the fact that there is no carpet in the rear storage. That way you don't have to worry about mildew under your ballast as much. It's flat plastic with drainage, so that's nice. The one drawback is when I take the racks off and I want to put them somewhere while I drive. It would be nice to have carpet under at least one seat so that fragile stuff like that doesn't slide around when traveling. I'll probably add some EVA grip in there somewhere to make up for that.

You are a baaaaaaad man! Nice job, David.
Old     (wakeworld)      Join Date: Jan 1997       09-04-2009, 7:26 PM Reply
I think the wheels on the trailer do a nice job of matching up with the tower. I didn't really think the black trim would look as good as all-white, but now I'm a believer. Thanks to the folks over at BoatMate for hooking up those wheels. That was very cool of them! The trailer even has runway-style LED's so you can put the boat on at night! :-)

Rims are 18". I was thinking about getting some for my truck to match.

David you are going to LOVE this boat, we just picked up a 2009 and I was so impressed with the wake with just the stock ballast and wedge, hope you enjoy it!

As usual you wind up with one of the baddest Malibus on the water. I miss the white tower on the 09 but that thing is amazing. Congratulations and enjoy, David. It looks incredible.

Malibu is steppin it up! like usual of course.. Im lovin all the new user friendly options they have now, i.e. no carpet in the compartments, snap in carpet, trailer runway lights, platform locks, etc. not to mention the stuff they innovated in recent years. Pretty sick!

David, you could get some carpet from home depot or somethin and cut it to fit in the compartments you will keep your racks in.. just a thought.

The white accent stitching on the black vinyl is sick!!!!

Dave, I knew you were going to get a boat to match your Custom Graphic Boardshorts. I have extra markers if you want your daughter to get crazy on those white seats.

Wow...she is lovely. I too will need some time staring at the tower to adjust my likes/dislikes. Anyone notice how the Wakesetter sticker looks like its slanting down a little? Is that so when it sits in the water 'rear' heavy it looks straight?

Malibus got some nice features there with the lock instead of pins for the swim deck, the step through platform. Is that a pop up nav light in the front. Thats clean.

Yes, the front light pops up.

Wow....when did they go back to the old Morse throttle? Is the boat still fly-by-wire Dave?
Old     (bstphen24)      Join Date: Apr 2006       09-05-2009, 3:33 PM Reply
Glad to see the old throttle. I was not a fan of the neutral release button on top of the other style.
Old     (lfadam)      Join Date: Nov 2008       09-05-2009, 4:55 PM Reply
sick!!! so glad they got snap in carpet now. New tower is crazy, I think I like it though. Stil havent ridden the new hull, but I bet its sick!
Old     (sippi)      Join Date: Dec 2007       09-05-2009, 5:21 PM Reply
My Gawd!!! That's so fine! I LOVE the little things about this boat like the white stitchin on the black vinyl/leather (looks like leather) on the dash...reminds me of high end sports cars. The new tower is definitely gonna take some getting used to, I'm curious to see what it looks like with speakers and Bimini. The "wakesetter" decal I think they could have done a better job with. It does look a bit higher in the back but I bet it looks good on the water. The "wake" font looks smaller than "setter". I'm sure that was on purpose but that's THE only thing that I could nit pick about (and that's diggin to find something). AWESOME BOAT!!

Dave,
Love the boat, but why did Malibu switch back to the old school throttle? My '09 is much easier than the older/new again version.
Old     (tcaz)      Join Date: Aug 2008       09-05-2009, 9:58 PM Reply
Love the boat, congrats on it! I find it funny though how whenever the "malibu 2010, spy photos" thread came out, it was nearly all negative comments and bashing but when you post this everyone all the sudden has a change of heart. Anyways, it looks great and appreciate all the pictures. Bet you can't wait to baptize it!

Not sure why they went back to the old throttle, but I'm glad they did cuz my last one hurt my thumb after a long day of driving.

Dave she looks great to bad they didn't white out the tower.
You are the luckiest man alive..........

They went back to the old throttle this year because it is a new transmission. This is not a digital throttle anymore- back to throttle cable. Took a bit of getting used to after being used to the responsiveness of the digital throttle. After driving it for the past week, I'm used to it again and lovin it!

That is nice. I like the new tower, but I do want to see it fully dressed. Is the walk through on the swim platform new? I am going to do something like that down the road one day if I ever have to have interior work done.

Nick,

Your right. That is a way better system than on the 06's, etc. I just had my brackets replaced. They both broke at the welds. Metcraft did the warranty just a week before they disappeared. Very cool.

Congrats. The boat looks great. It makes my 07 look dated. The bow grab rails look nice that low, the dash and stitching look like pure luxury, the glove box looks very functional, I wish I had snap-in carpet, and the locks on the swim platform are genius. Enjoy.

That is the nicest Malibu I have ever seen, for sure. Owen at Boatmate makes a super nice trailer, something we have really been enjoying on the East Coast.

Yeah, that BoatMate trailer is sicky sick (yeah, I coined that)!! I just hooked it up and took some pics as it was getting dark. Hard to see the runway lights, but they're there in the last pic. Forgot to take a pic of the reverse lights. This is the first trailer I've ever seen with actual reverse lights!

How long until you test the wake out? I've heard some people thought the new hull wasn't as good as the old one but when I had a demo ride behind a 09 I was super impressed.

Yea... I'm still waiting for all my accessories, too Dave. As far as the wake goes... I've heard the same- however I personally like it better than the '08 hull's wake- both the '09 and '10.

Daman Dave! They just keep on getting better. Definately the nicest looking boat I have ever seen. Love the white. Unfortunately, next year when I get my new one, it may look a LOT like yours. I was hoping for snap out carpet. I am sure you will like in the long run. From Extreme to Boatmate. Bad-a$$ trailer/lights/wheels. WOW! I would just be towing that baby around town all day. Hit the beach, Gaslamp, etc. Hope to see it soon NEIGHBOR! Damn! Not gonna sleep now.

We only tube when we see you on the water Joe. My kids love watching you ride, so when they see you behind the boat, they insist on hooking up the tube to get a closer look. Of course, I indulge them every time!!

YEAH - Malibu finally got snap in carpetting HOORAY!! I love the boat Dave - I remember reading that Malibu added a saltwater package to it in the Spy Thread. Curious - Is that a painted galvanized trailer - if so, I am headed back to Malibu!!

That boat is boat is incredible. No adjectives do it justice!! Well played Dave!

Not that I'd change anything but I can't help but think how sick that WS logo would look if it were big and went from top deck to the waterline and you got rid of the "Wakesetter". Maybe set it right in front of the windshield. Just dreaming...
