I'm 37 and sitting in my office at work with a sore knee and aching stomach. I thought I tore my ACL but luckily didn't. I think I did tear a stomach muscle though. It kills especially when I sneeze. Anyway, starting to feel my age a bit. The one good thing is that the injuries made me work on technique this past weekend instead of just hucking stuff. I expect that will really help me in the long run. Just sucks to be literally limping along in the meantime.

man. i'm only 25, and am feeling it! i've got both sides of my ribs messed up, a Sprained Right MCL, a Hyperextended Left Knee. I'm rockin' a brace on each knee. there have been a number of other minor injury's throughout the season too. crashed with my eyes open about two months ago and i ended up bleeding out of my eye (seriously had blood running down my cheek from it). but, i have yet to take more than 6 days off at a time from boarding...i know it's not smart, but we only get so many months to board here in Minnesota.

I work-out and try to stay strong, but it's still one crazy ache or pain aftr another. Yesterday I pulled a muscle in my right upper forearm by lifting an unassembled desk up and into the back of a van. Sad.

tear an ab muscle? Lay off it for a few weeks. Reinjuring it hurts worse.

I'm with Walt. ...about time for John Anderson to chime in. Stay in shape, keep your weight down - that helps.

LOL Andy, I rode the cable on Sat and took 3 sets behind the boat on Sunday. Practiced my toeside and heelside 3's on the boat and took a good beating. My shoulder blades are feeling it this morning. First time riding behind the boat in about a month and it showed.

John, I wanna be doing this as long as the barefoot Banana Man did his stuff. You're +5 from me, so the way I see it, if you're doing it in the 50's then surely I can. You go!

I rode for the first time in a month yesterday, and i'm definitely walking around the office awkwardly. My body hurts a little bit all over. What's even more sad is the time between rides. I'm 29.

Thanks Andy and I agree Banana George is the king of old dudes in watersports. Definitely an example to follow. http://bananageorge.com/ Somebody needs to put that guy on a wakeboard. Edit: Holy Crap, 93!!! (Message edited by fly135 on August 04, 2008)

I heard the P90X really works. Muscle confusion. at 39 going on 40 my body is definitely not taking the crashes like it used to. I stopped smoking, have been running 3 miles a day and lifting 2-3 times a week. I feel a lot better. Increasing your strength and flexibility as you get older helps a lot. But man am I soar right now... (Message edited by solo on August 04, 2008)

Dang, Walt you beat me to the "40's" comment! Why Oprah said life begins after you turn 40 beats the heck out of me! Sorry to hear you are feeling sore, Russell. Hopefully, your stomach muscle will heal quickly.

Thanks for the support! GREAT responses. I love pulling a muscle flying a kite. That is funny. Definitely something I'd do. I do stay in shape and try to stretch and rest after injuries. But the season is short in Chicago too and I just seem to tweek more stuff than I used to. It doesn't help that I'm trying to get consistent with my inverts and spins. The spins are by FAR the worst falls for me. I don't know how those/you guys go off axis. I can't do it for the life of me.
