Bellingham: Samish vs. Whatcom

Does anyone know how good Lake Whatcom is for wakeboarding .... I was thinking about going to Samish but Whatcom looks closer.

From what I hear Samish is a far better ski/wakeboard lake. Whatcom is really big and gets fairly choppy compared to Samish.

both are great places to ride. Whatcom is bigger with a nice boat launch can get crowded or windy but you can usually always find good water. Samish is small but can get crowded and choppy and the boat launch is not the greatest again you can find good water most of the time.

Thanks JD. Do both have a public launch? Any thing I should watch out for? I'm planning on riding in a couple weeks and going on a weekday. Is Whatcom closer from Blaine (I5)? I'll hit the one with the shortest driving distance. Thanks.

Yes Whatcom is closer by a slight margin from Blaine. Did you get my Email I sent you about the boat launch at Samish?

Whatcom is one of the first lakes I ever rode on. It's just beautiful up there.
