I just bought one of the Straight line coated ropes. It is the Blue Velvet Model. I opted for the coated line with the kids riding this year. I know from sailing, spectra cuts and burns really quick. My question is this. Is anyone with this line or another brand having issues with the coating sliding down the rope. The outer clear coating was attached with heat shrink onto the splices, where the loop is spliced into the rope(fatter part), at the loops on the end of the rope. This quickly slid down the road on all of the sections and then the coating ends up in bunches along the line. Makes a brand new $90 rope look like crap. We have only ridden with the rope a few times and the main section is pulled down almost 10 feet at the top and about 5 at the bottom. Even the shorter sections at the top did this and they never get handled.

Should I contact SL about this issue or is this a common issue with coated lines? Ant input would be great. Thanks.

I had one do that to me. I just deal with it cause somebody gave it to me. Spectra when it's in the water and soaking wet won't burn u. If anything that thick coated line will burn u quicker
