we are in the delta .... no temp on my boat so i have no idea how cold .... chris went no wetsuit saturday for awhile but he doesnt handle the cold very well being 115lbs .... catie actually jumped out of the water the first time and said she was done but after watching chris she went back in with no problem .... i actually have no problem with the temp at the moment and actually just hang out in the water by the boat .... if you guys would ever like to come down just say the word as its usually just me and the kids .... boats in the water ALWAYS ready to go!! .... looks like you can help teach chris also!!

for the superman you have to try and land on your feet on the board ,http://www.mobgroup.tv/troops/djjamesz.html ,and get really high ,like check out this one on mobgroup, landing on your belly is the easy way to do it ,good job alec ,when you do it just do it super quick dont waste anytime.Ive done like a hundred of them and only pulled 5 under my feet and rode the other 85 on my belly and about 20 of them hit myself in the face and landed on my nuts on the board so be carefull with that one its easy to knock your teeth out if done wrong.
Old     (jdjjamesz)      Join Date: Mar 2008       11-02-2009, 2:17 PM Reply
and alec look for your landing point on the wave when you do it you want to try to land on top and drop back in .

@vince those are some great pics of Alex.

@frank
Wake is looking good. Looks like you are starting to get that second lip thing going on, though. Can't wait til 11/14.
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 12:15 PM Reply
that second lip thing is actually coming off the boat .... i still have a few more inches to cut off the very end of the swim platform though .... so right now the second lip thing may be becuase of the rubrail under the water .... which means mor weight forward and middle im assuming .... havent played with the weight in a long time
Old     (ragboy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       11-03-2009, 12:22 PM Reply
Yes, my rub rail will do that. As you add more weight to the surf side, maybe also add some to the other to get the rail out of the water.
Old     (wofrankwo)      Join Date: Jul 2009       11-03-2009, 12:39 PM Reply
i read where alot of people tend to put a sac in the middle back .... next time ill put the 700lber on the back seat and see what that does .... we will be out tomorrow afternoon and ill try that ..... would hate to have to run a false side up the boat to get rid of the rail LOL .... but if it made the wave all lip at the huge size i get now it would truuly be worth it

I have tried to post several times and it has not posted. I hope this one makes it. I read the wakesurfing threads on Wakeworld almost everyday. Since this thread started I have been reading the updates every few hours. My wife thinks I am nuts. Mitch at CMS in Fairfield talked me into signing up for this event. I am really looking forward to it. I will bring my IS Red Tide and My new IS Swallow. I have only used it once so I have not dialed it in yet. I am looking forward to 11/14

Jeff, James' shuv looks gnarly. Did he land one?
Old    surfdad            11-21-2009, 8:31 PM Reply
Hey Mitch, that was a 3 shuv attempt - operative word being attempt :-) He can hit a shuv on that board easily, but when he tries the 3 shuv, it goes over the spine. From what I can see, the fins are catching and the board actually starts tracking :-)

retractable fins sounds very interesting.

How cold was it dad?
Old    surfdad            11-22-2009, 5:10 AM Reply
@ dj - great pictures.

@ ragboy - Josh Sleigh and I think Rock was shaping those boards for Josh, did a retractable twin tip. The fins went through the board and were attached to a stomp pad on the deck. I think there was a spring between the board and the stop pad and when your foot wasn't on the pad, the fins would retract. Somewhere in the archived files JL posted a picture...those boys have done the most innovative stuff.

I lost the functionality of TAPS (Bennett Trim Tab) two or maybe three weeks ago and my wake has suffered since. We noticed that my port side exhaust manifold is super hot and leaking water so the boat is headed into the shop this week. I think that getting our wake back will help and also James needs to get higher before trying the 3 shuv. Although - I am intrigued by the weight distribution that Mitch shared with me from his wakeskate. I think that a more uniform distribution of weight would help with that trick also.

@ dtw - FREEZING! :-) If I remember correctly, air was 58-59 and water was 56. I think that Ed S established that if the combined temps aggregate 100 + it's still rideable (if just barely! :-) ).

Is that a SNUGGLE that Dennis is wearing?
Old     (dennish)      Join Date: May 2005       11-22-2009, 7:20 AM Reply
No that is my changing tent. I made a long poncho type coverup so you can change in and out of your wetsuit without trying to cover yourself with a small towel. Works great on a boat where it is hard to hide.

Great pics by all!

Jeff, do my eyes deceive me, or is James hanging 10 on a wakeboard? Thats nuts!

We were still trunkin as of last weekend, but didn't even end up riding due to some issues popping up once we got out and loaded up.
Old    surfdad            11-22-2009, 9:51 AM Reply
@ TXSurf - yeah isn't that funny? It's the rocker - just like a noserider - it sucks the tail of the board down at speed and you can climb all over the nose. :-)

@ dj - the water level is scary low for us. I can remember back in the late 70's or maybe early 80's we had water levels this low, folks just didn't take their boats out. If we don't get some rain this winter, it's going to be a tough 2010 for anything boating related in California. Happy T-day to you and yours, too.

Hey Gunz,
Don't know why Frank isn't answering you. Probably out riding or frozen. Pretty crazy to be riding now without a wetsuit though.
Frank's new board is a Walker Project Bazooka Prototype from the Big Guy Event. It is 5'3".
Old     (svenster)      Join Date: Nov 2009       11-29-2009, 7:25 PM Reply
Have been following the Big Guy Event, as I am searching for the right board for me. I am 6'4" and 250lbs, and learned on a Hyperlite 2007 Broadcast 5'6". Would the Walker Project Bazooka be a board I should consider? Any other board recommendations welcome. Thanks.

Hey Kell, The reviews should be coming out very soon from the event. The Bazooka would be a good choice. Wait for the reviews. There were several riders at the event in your weight range.

Maybe Kalahari in Ohio hasn't updated their Flowrider with TWP boards in a long time, since I thought it was much more like snowboarding than WS. Heck it really resembled a Skurfer... Just my opinion though.

I need to do some flowrider instruction since waiting in that line is no bueno.

I think my bad is that I rarely ever goofy so I'm good for 10ft, turn, then faceplant ha ha. Still fun when snowing outside.

Last ride was 2nd week of Nov but didn't take the camera, air 71 degrees and water about 48 with full suit but numb feet and hands--had a blast. Gotta move South! Back to hibernation

joe the line where we went isnt long at all .... first time me and chris went there was only 1 other guy first hour and one more came the second .... second time we had like 10 people then it went down to 6 the second hour .... the boards are like big skateboard decks .... they seem to have about 4 custom boards that chris can tell the difference .... i can go up back and one way and turn quite easily in one place, i havent figured out to go back the other way very well yet .... there are some dudes there that really rip it up though
