Hello all,

This is kind of a follow up to another thread I made. For those of you who havent read it I am looking at a 1985 Ski Natuique 2001 with 434 hours on it for about $6800. Here is a list of whats been done and the flaws:The interior is original but the carpet was replaced last year, and when he did this he said he replaced some piece of wood in the back that was rotting a little (not sure what piece of wood this was though) when he was doing the carpet. The Outside is faded pretty badly from the looks of the pics, is there anyway to bring back the color, with a rubbing compound or something else? He said there are two hairline cracks coming off of the winch ring and that it is spiderwebbing on the top part of one side where he thinks it hit up against the dock, how hard would it be to repair these two areas? Can anyone do a run down of how to get to and check the stringers for me again? How do I check the transmission, just see how it runs, any particular way to check it? What else should I check for on this boat? Tell me what you guys think and I appreciate the help! Here are the pics that I got from the guy selling it:

I think that is a great boat for the money.

My first boat was an 87 Ski Nautique 2001. I bought it with 330 hours on it and sold it with 960 and it ran great when I sold it. The interior of that boat looks better than mine. In fact it looks almost perfect. The wood he was referring to was probably the center back piece of floor behind the engine box. It was wood where the rest of the floor was fiberglass. They did tend to warp over time with sun and water. The fading on the outside can be cleand up with rubbing compound and a buffer and it will look good as new. Looks like the decals may need to be redone. Correct Craft can hook you up with a place to order new ones if you want. I don't know what to tell you to do about the stress cracks on the lifting rings. I have never had any on any of my boats.

At the end of the day I think that is a great deal and I can tell you with some fat sacs and a high pole, those 2001's make a killer wakeboard wake/boat at a great price.

I agree that it looks to be a pretty good deal, the trailer looks to be in good shape.
I have an 89 that I bought new and I just can't get rid of it, I like it so much. I buffed out the sides last year and got new decals from Mid West Correct Craft in Angola, IN. They have every part you would ever need. Bruce is the parts guy and Jeff is the man for any maintance questions.

Were all the hulls the same length from 82-89? 19 foot 6 inches correct?

Thats a bad ass boat for that price. I have an 84' I payed $6500, and the interior is not even as nice as that one. Ya paint is faided but so what, as long as everything else is cherry, it's all good

Ok cool because the guy said he thought it was 18 ft 5 inches including the platform, and he said it was titled 18 and a half feet, but ive only ever seen people say that they were 19 feet 6 inches, and the only length that shows up in the nadaguides was 19ft.

I have an 86 I bought last year and paid $9300 it had 450 hours and was super clean. The trialer is the worst thing on the boat.It now has 575 hours and not a problem except for a new impeller,And just got a tower installed today.I love the boat not as fancy as the new rides but alot less and easy to work on

I too was thinking the boat was 18.5' long, but there is nothing in the manual about it (that I was able to find). My registration says 18.5', but that's only because that's what I told them when I registered it.

I still love my '84, but I do wish for more storage space on-board now that me and my friends all have kids and wives.

Erik, I see that you live in Abilene. I live in
Stephenville and will probably go to Lake Brownwood at least once this summer. You are welcome to come down sometime and ride and also check out my old '83 Nautique (It's not for sale, though!).
