Big Ed,

That's probably Josh Smith's school. I don't have Josh's number personally but I'm sure someone will post it here. I saw him out this weekend so I'm sure he's still running classes.

Ed is right, Rich. That is Conway's camp.

Depending on the tricks you want to learn. I would say hook up with some local riders and I am sure they will be more than happy to help you out. To me a day of lessons are not that good. You need to spend at least 3 days to a week with a camp or instructor. You will do fine all day long then just go right back to your bad habits. If you can I would go to west coast camps. Mike has been doing this for a while and also spent lots of time at Darins camp when he was younger. So he knows how to run a camp and teach. Look at his students the Valedez brothers have spent some time with mike and now look where they are today. I will also be spending some time up at west cost camps this coming spring. Just my two nickels for what its worth.

We would be happy to work with you. At the www.DeltaWakeboardCamp.com, we have Derek Conway, 2004 National Jr. Mens Champ or Kevin Bird, 2005 INT National Outlaw Champ. Two of the best westcoast riders and instructors. Call us at 1-800-977-2295.

I just realized that www.deltawakeboardcamp.com is Conways new camp. Now that would be a killer place to go. Good coaches and plus you will get endless miles of butter. Now thats a hard choice between that and west coast. Some one have a quarter heads west tails delta.

Wakegirl...Mike Schwenne's west coast camps is awesome. I was there last summer and am already signed up for next June. I would highly recommend it. Don't know of the other camp at the delta, but Mike's is great.

J-Rod,

Re-read Ed's post and my response. Tom doesn't have a super air going out of Orwood. Derek and Kevin will be based in Stockton and running around the Delta in a houseboat with a VLX the last I heard. I didn't think they would be up and running until May 06 so for local instruction Josh is as good as any right now.

Hopefully Chris will take Tom up on his offer and be a guest instructor next summer!

There's not much reason to go back to florida anymore between Mike and Derek.

How about any in the So Cal area??? or is it worth it to go up north?

there is one over near palm springs but I don't know how good it is. I think it is called wakeboard boot camp. They even had an all girls camp for a week put on by OP girls learn to ride last summer. The only other one I would recommend is to do a week of day camps with Brent Baum of SoCal Wakeboard Instruction. He is great and works with all levels of riders. But it is definately worth it to go up north.

wakegurl,

My 3 boys have been to Mike's camp the past two years and are signed up again already for June of 06. If you are intersted in Mike's camp, you better sign up quick because his camps fill up fast. Expensive, but very much worth it.

Wakegurl....Brent IS a great coach and a lot of fun too. I went to Mike's camp then rode with Brent the rest of the summer. Best summer I have had. Go out with Brent and see how you like it. Chuck is right...you have to get your name on the list early for Mike's camp. I'm signed up for June (old folks week!!!)

Has anyone gone to west coast camps and also one of the so cal (Chris Williams, Brent baum or wakeboard boot camp) and can you compare what you learned and which was more valuable? Thanks...I have done a few lessons in so cal from different places but they haven't been all that great...looking for someone I can learn more from and advance quicker! Thx

Tracy, I have spent the entire summer with Brent Baum and have ridden with almost everyone who takes lessons from him. I have witnessed his students land tricks for the first time in one hour that they have been trying to land for months. Ericka rode with him, learned new inverts and her 3's, then went and won her division at nationals. Last summer I went to west coast camps in May, did the OP girls learn to ride day at Elsinore in June, went to the Nik & Julz clinic in Aug., and rode with Brent twice a week. Plus did all the Canyon Lake tournaments every month. I believe you can learn something valuable from all good coaches....GOOD coaches. All this time on the water has helped me so much. I am a beginner so I am not doing inverts yet but this summer I nailed my HS w2w, almost have my toeside, can do and started learning grabs. I can't wait for next summer. And Brent will teach as early or late in the season as his students want to ride. He's nice, reliable, funny, an excellent coach, and a great rider. And he is soooo patient. Anyway, that's just my experience. Hope it helps.

i dont think chris is running his school right now due to tommy lee. boat crash. i could call him and see whats up but i think hes still been going out a few times a week on other peoples boats coaching. anyway chris does a bunch of diferent 7's and can hit 9's and all the mobes and so if your looking for lessons in so cal id hit him up.

So, it sounds like Brent Baum is a pretty good instructor, thanks for the tip...has anyone else taken lessons form him? Does he do a lot of instructing? I have taken lessons elsewhere where they pretty much just drive the boat and maybe give you one or two tips like "stay on edge". Thanks for any input!
