Any information about this lake would be appreciated before I drive 2 hours to look at a possible weekend place.

I have some friends that go to Placid a couple times a year and rent a house. All I hear are good things. It peaks my interest but there is no way I could afford another mortgage. haha

Some of those larger lakes can get busy. This is a smaller lake which may be good from a boat traffic standpoint but I'm not sure if its large enough for a good run or if it can handle more than a couple boats. My understanding is that access is limited so outside boat traffic may also be limited.

Looking at google maps...Sirena, Pearl, and McCoy all might be a little small for a good wakeboarding run.

I don’t know much specifically about Lake Sirena, but it is plenty big enough to ski on.

The following website will tell you a little more about Highlands County lakes.

http://www.highlandsswcd.org/everything/lake_summaries/Highlands%20County%20Lakes.htm

Since it is a ridge/sandy bottom lake it should be fairly clean and have good water clarity. Just as an example of size, I live on a private lake in Avon Park (Lake Isis – approx 25mi north) and it is approximately 65 acres. It is more like a typical ski lake where you make a pass and then turn around go the opposite direction. This works fine unless there are other boats or jet skis on the water and then there is too much chop. Lake Sirena is probably close to 3x as big as our lake with 3x the number of homes.

Probably the best lakes in Highlands County would be June, Jackson, Lake Placid, Lotela, Grassy or Huntley. There are also a number of smaller private or semi-private lakes to choose from. The most expensive would be June & Jackson although you can usually find a big price range on each lake depending on the area of the lake. The housing market is still very slow so probably lots of deals to be had.

By the way, there are probably several of the animals in your profile pic in Lake Sirena (and most other lakes in the area).

i've ridden on lake sirena, and its always seems to have nothing but glass. i know one other kid there with a wakeboat but i dont know if they ever have time to use it anymore.

you may want to try lake clay. its like 5 minutes from sirena.

Google maps was my first stop. I compared it to Lake Ida. It looks large enough for one boat.

I hear it's 65 feet deep and crystal clear and I'm sure it has a couple gators...no problem.

I have a inside deal on a piece of property but if I get involved it needs to be skiable.

If you get it and ever need a third look me up, it is only an hour and fifteen from my house.

Timmy, Your probably only 25 minutes from me in Boynton. I'm directly across the ditch from the Boynton Inlet.

Do you ride in Boynton?

Depends, I have a place on the St. Johns River in Astor. Sometimes I leave the boat other times I bring it home. The intracoastal to the south is the best riding around. Having lived on Ida I can say you don't have to fight the jet skis every single day after work.

I had my boat down for a while when I lived in WPB, and went on Osborne a couple times but the jet skis drove me nuts. I also was barefooting once in a while with a guy on the southern boulevard canal. Once I moved to Jupiter, I moved my boat up to Lake Weir, where a friend of mine lives on the lake. My boat/trailer is not set up for saltwater, so no intracoastal for me.

I have not been to Southern Blvd since they reworked all the roads. If I trailer I'll run to Okeeheelee. The best runs on Ida were between rain showers.

For all the reasons you mentioned is why I love the river. I'll shoot you an email the next time the boat is in town. Aside from an little washdown work, afterwork runs south of Woolbright are pretty good.
