What to use to glue fittings into sacs

I was thinking of just applying some silicon to my fittings. I would think it would be easier to pull out the fittings later if I needed to. What has everybody else done?

Rubber Cement

silicone or any silicone-based marine sealant would work. I don't think I would use rubber cement...

3m 5200 if you don't want to take them apart ever.

I used 5200 on my sacs to secure the male side of the quick-conns. Had no problem removing them 6 months later.

I just used some automotive rtv that was laying around. Worked good and still comes apart if needed.

Yes the fitting are a little smaller than the thread size in the bags. They leak a little and get the compartment wet.

what's the deal with the fittings not making a tight seal? Fittings are made by the same company that makes the sac and they can't get a water tight fit? That seems unacceptable?

not sure, my sacs from fly high and fittings seemed tight and had O-rings on them, I used no glue, and don't seem to have any problems, maybe other sacs are different?

I got the fly high sacs but did everything in the ballast system myself. I did not buy the fly high fittings. Just saving a little money by not ordering like 15 fittings at 5-7 bucks a piece.

mine have never leaked, even after I busted the glued in factory fittings loose with a pipe wrench to use on my new bags when I got bigger ones. You could use pipe tape to seal them up, that way you have a chance of getting them off in the future. A dab of silicone lube would help ensure a seal as well.

is there any better option out there other than waterbed fittings for the older type bags that use them? I have waterbed fittings and they leak CONTINUOUSLY!!!

get a barbed fitting for the water bed joints. Virtually leak proof and removebale.

Get them at any Home Depot, Menards Lowes

As for the newer style

Fly High recommeds regular PVC cement. To remove it just heat it up a bit with hair dryer. Pops loose with ease.

I didn't glue my fly high sacs and they haven't leaked so far, on season two with them.

I use a 1" plastic hose barbs using hose clamps to secure instead of blue waterbed barbs. Never have any leaks, easy & cheap.......
