Hey Northwest guys just wanted to post this flyer I got e-mailed to me today. There's going to be a float party on Lake Sammamish during the NWWSA surf competition this year. Linking the stereos of all the boats. Should be fun. If you don't know about the event alot of pro riders come out for this.

Tyler, like Jeremy said just make it up to her by taking her to the Canlis or something. Just make sure to bring your sports coat. They don't allow Ruffian in that place.

John - you are right you do still owe me dinner. Hope all is well with your ride. We can settle up on that next time or over some beers.

We have reservations on Friday night at Metropolitan Grill. Is that still the in place for steak? I will look up Canlis. Have not heard of it. She does not know about this trip or anything, so maybe the Friday night deal will win me some brownie points and we can jump on someone's boat on Saturday. I know of a few boats coming up from down here.

This event sounds like a blast. We will see....

I have never been to the Met but have aleays heard it is really good. I think it is a little more of a bar atmoshpere then romantic. If you want something a little more romantic I would look at El Guacho, Canlis or Palisades. Another place that I like and I think has the best steak I have had(I haven't tried any of the other 3 restaurants I mentioned) is Daniels Brioler. They have a couple locations. They have a nice romantic atmosphere, great views, amazing food and amazing service.

Canlis is the most exclusive restaraunt in Seattle as far as I have heard. It is the only place I know where you have to have a sport coat. I have heard stories about how they use to make people with crappier cars park down the street. That could be all hearsay though.

I really like Jaks and it is a great alternative to a super high priced steak joint. My old roommates both work at the one in West Seattle. The only disadvantage I see is that they don't take reservations. You can get a really good steak with a starch or vegetables for 30-35. You might even have a slight chance of getting out of there for around a c note with an app, 2 dinners and a desert if you don't drink like a fish.

On a side note the burger at Jaks is the Shiz. It is about $10 with fries and add bacon and blue cheese and you got something truely special. I usually get the burger instead of a steak but that might be because I am a cheapskate. Oh yeah, at happy hour(only 4:30 to 5:30) the burger is 4 or 5 bucks and that includes fries.

Oh man, I am hungry. Almost nothing better then a Blue Cheese bacon burger cooked medium with some delicious fries and a couple ice cold Manny's.

El Gaucho is theeeee best place in Seattle for a steak. Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Its great afterwards to go down to the Pampas room to catch some live jazz and drink cocktails. If you really want to make it a night just stay at The Inn at El Gaucho, I've stayed there and the rooms are awesome. For me Daniels, The Met, Ruth Criss and the like just cannot quite compare. http://www.elgaucho.com/elgaucho/

If you like your steaks the same get the Chateaubriand which is carved tableside, do the cesar salad (also prepared tableside) and for desert get the Bananas Foster (again prepared tableside) Another fun one is the flaming lamb skewer. If you want an inexpensive (relatively speaking) bottle of wine the Berringer knights valley is excellent.

I had my 30th in the Pampas room, there was some miscommunication on our part about how many guest would be there and that we'd be ordering dinner (we bought a bunch of appetizers). Some of the guests complained so El Gauch comped my bar bill wich surpassed the $500 mark and additionally sent out 5 $200 vouchers for dinner. Their service is the best and if they let you down they make it up to you.

my $.02

Ok....Brett.... You have changed my mind. Many others have confirmed your suggestion and a reservation is switched to Canlis. Thanks for that! We have El Gaucho here in Portland too and it is great ambiance and a great restaurant, I really think there are better steaks out there and I want a new experience. There service and food is amazing though.

Lets switch back to the topic at hand. The "Float Party". Sorry original poster for the hijack. Who knows maybe we will see you out there.

So what happened in Portland 4th weekend. Heard there was a mass exodus issue from tie up. Everyone moved out to a free float from the pumping tubes...

I don't know, what happened?

Well if I knew the details I wouldn't have asked lol

I just heard a bunch of people were tied up at the new spot where someone was broadcasting (assumed you said it was kupn). And then something happened and everyone left and tied up together off the tubing and played own music? :whoknows:

Ok we went and checked out the tie up spot. Looks good on the back side of the sand bar. It will keep the boats protected and give us a sand bar to hang out on. Now who is bringing the bbq?

Not yet but the nights young...oh you mean to the event. had plans to go to Crescent Bar but we're having a hell of a time getting a condo so if that falls through then yes I'll be there. If we have to break out the tents I'll bring the speaker skate, the worlds loudest skateboard.

It was great, until some As@$%ole started yelling and cussing at girls and kids because he couldn't rock his two tower speakers and let his chicks dance on his boat to house/techno music. We shoved him off so he could play elsewhere. A few followed him etc. Not a big deal, but when 6-7 boats are tied up and playing the same thing, ya deal with it or ya don't. Nobody will ever agreee on music.

You read about that on team talk??? Yeah it was mine. Sucks still not sure what's gonna happen with it since I have nothing to claim there is no damage. Get back to Portland tomorrow. Might go out Friday since I just bought a new inland surfer swallow v2. Otherwise will be out on Saturday for sure on the lower but doubt we will do much if any riding that day.

I wanna see too. The officer would not let me over by the other guys boat to talk to him or see the damage. Crazy since we had only been pushed off dock was not even under power. Surprised people talking about it too there was only 2 other boats there that had like 1 or 2 people on them.

Yeah good times. I have spoken to Ranger Rick and he is willing to come and work security for the next event. What a tool he was!!!
There maybe an event on the Columbia between Portland and Vancouver, WA in two weeks if any of you are interested in coming down this direction. Details to come if it stays together.....
