Alright I'm now getting ready to move at the end of the year and I have narrowed it down to 2 choices NAS Whidbey Island or NAS Lemoore.. I am looking at everything but need help with the pros and cons for wakeboarding, I know there are lakes by each (no rivers by Lemoore). I need peoples opinion from each area if possible. I love the fact WA is cheaper to live, but seems CA has better WB weather? Also WA gas prices??

Gas prices are bad everywhere on the west coast.. I just heard Cali jumped ahead of OR, and WA. SOrry can't help with wakeboarding areas...

Whidbey island is going to be a drive to go anywhere without salt water...

Kenny, I live in Mount Vernon, about 5 mi from big lake. Big lake is a nice lake to ride on, just shallow and a little dirty. There are numerous other lakes to ride on nearby. I ride mostly on lake Whatcom near Bellingham, the other lakes nearby are samish, goodwin, stevens, baker, and a few down south. The only problem is the riding season is shorter than in Cali unless you don't mind cold water. All in all WA is a beautiful place to live with alot of lakes around. If you need any more info let me know.

are the lakes packed. hard ot find good water?

The only packed lakes are goodwin and stevens, and the lakes down south can get a little crowded also, but only in the afternoon and weekends. Whatcom, big lake, and samish are a little crowded on the weekends, but almost never on the weekdays. Baker is never crowded. If the wind is calm (which is usually in the morning and evening) you can always find good untouched water.

I work with ejection seats/ecs systems on aircraft.

Seriuosly how cold is it in the summer and how much does it really rain?

80-85 is a pretty warm day, and it really dosen't rain that much in the summer. The winter is a whole different story though, it does rain quite a bit in the winter and spring but it is tolerable IMO. I guess there are tradeoffs for everything and the rain is what makes western Washington so beautiful and lush, but the summers are pretty nice.

75-85 is perfect, I dont want to be sweating while riding in the summer!

Is it overcast everyday during the summer?

No definitely not, IMO the summers here are hard to beat.

Go to Whidbey. Shorter season but beautiful water and scenery. I was stationed up there with VAQ-140 93-96.

Is it too late to change your duty assignment?

I recommend NAS Corpus Christi - I just PCSd from there - great wakeboarding (Padre Island) about 11-months out of the year! Good flying down there too.

no sea duty at Corpus Christi, I haven't selected orders yet, looking at VAQ-140/141/139/131 at Whidbey or VFA-25/151 at Lemoore. I am leaning to about 75% to Whidbey right now not sure which squardon yet though. probley 140/141 or 139. If I coulf get to Corpus I would in a heart beat!
