I know everone can't afford newer boats, so let's see some slammed boats-pre 1998 (factory ballast)

PRE 1998 (factory ballast) and slammed. Those three things do not go together.

Dude, our old 89 sunsetter had trouble getting on plane with around 1000lbs, I cant imagine it EVER getting on plane with any large amount of weight, lol.

Here's a pic of my previous boat; 1991 Sunsetter, purchased for $8900, then added ballast system of about 2200 lbs and put on a new ACME prop, had about as good a hole shot as no ballast and stock prop and still would do 40 mph. Wake was very good.......but not as good as my new 23 LSV

Nice boats, but I thought there would be more. I guess the only way to get more posts is to bad mouth some company...kidding (kinda)

side note, my wording was unclear but i meant pre '98 when factories started adding ballast and you had to slam the boat yourself

Here is my 97 Sunsetter. This pic is un-weighted though. I'm running about 1800lb through an semi-auto system. I'm going to redo the system this winter and probably add about 200 more the the front. For an older boat, it puts off a SCARY wake!

The new 211 is great, but I honestly think we had more fun in the old Nautique 2001.

this is the first of the year UploadI just fired up a new motor dynos 410 poneys @ 5600 rpm. I am takeing her to shasta tomorrow for the first run after the rebuild. I wont sleep a wink tonight. the ballast is a fit 140lb hottie I call my wife. with the new shifting prop I should have a hole shot that will rivel many bass boats and at an estemated top steed of 75 mph with full ballast I will beat most of you to the good water. see you all on the water

wheres the pics of the ballast! Looks like a sweet boat JJ, got some more details on the rebuild?

ya the rebuild didnt go as planned I did alot of changes throught the prossess and not everything I did wanted to fit together the way it used to. I started with my fairly stock 350 (aka mercruser 260) I bored it 40 over added forged pistons, total seal rings, a crane roller Z cam, roller rockers ,a new high rise multi plane Edelbrock RPM intake, and a new Edelbrock carb, its a 650 punched to 700 cfm I added some new stainless valves and had my heads ported and I polished them. I went ahead and had them flow tested dont really know why just anel I guess. I am running a stock destributer and going to upgrade to the MSD probillet after the break in period is over. I installed a new 100 amp roller bearing alternator and a new roller bearing high flow water pump
The Exhaust has been a NIGHTMARE I bought a set of PCM center rise manifold from Mikeski from this forum trust me none of what happoned is his fault ALL MINE I take all the blame for not knowing what I was getting into at the time (I am no motor builder) so the manifold I got fit GREAT problem is I went to a roller rocker set up and needed more room to the rockers SO I bought a set of valve covers for the rockers WELL the manifolds wouldnt fit because they hit the valve covers SO.. the valve covers had to go back to Summit and try to find a set of covers that would fit over the rockers and not hit the manifolds what a pain in the ass SO... got that problem solved with a difrent valve cover and a thick edelbrock gaskit. then on test day the manifolds leaked like a siv and while the motor was running for the first time I was trying to tighten the riser bolts and snaped one off clean. no problem just shut the motor down and use an easy out to exctract the broken bolt ah no the easy out snaped. well long story not so long I get to take it to the lake tomorrow and tune the new carb maybe take a few test pases at 4 to 5000 rpm and call it a day so its 12:30 and no I cant sleep do you think the neighbors would be pissed if I touched her off, I am basicly running straight headers through the transom O Ya its loud really freken loud should quiet down quite a bit in the H2O though and I have on order a exhaust insert from REX marine that will quiet it down a bit.

here are my Supras. 1983 Supra Rider and 1990 SunSport. Both have about 1000lbs of semi auto ballast. I only had them both for a few weeks before the 83 found a new home. I have since added a tower to the SunSport as well.

That's because they owe 10 more years on them!

Um, Ok.

1) There's a pretty huge spectrum of boats on this thread (not anywere close to all Nautiques); and

b) One of the big reasons I went with a 2001 is so I wouldn't have payments (combined with a killer wake!)

Now...back to the thread!
