Battery Isolator Install - Help

I want to install a battery isolator in my air nautique (GT-40). So i looked at the instructions and called my dealer to consult his opinion, however, he gave me different instructions than what game with the isolator.

The dealer told me to leave the factory wiring setup and run a wire from the original battery to the isolator (were the alternator wire is to be connected) then run a wire from the isolator to the new battery.

Does this sound correct? The instructions with the isolator involve splitting black, orange and red wires.

The way the dealer suggested is acceptable. Run a second positive cable from the original battery to the isolator. Then, run another cable from the isolator to the second battery. Ground the secondary battery and the isolator to the original battery. Just make sure to match the OEM wire size. I used 1/0 wire to make all of my connections.
