Hi All,
We have camped at Bullards bar every summer for the last 5 years. Always at Garden Point. But with 3 kids, ages 12, 8, and 3, the hike has gotten to be to much with all our crap! I am also thinking that unless we get massive amounts of rain in Nor Cal this year, the water level will be low even in the beginning of the summer. So, my question is: How is Schoolhouse? Does anyone have any opinions and/or pictures? Recommendation on sites? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I like schoolhouse. The trick is to get 2 large sites either right next to each other or right across from each other. Put all the camping stuff in one site, all the food, drinks, fire, hangout in the other site. That's what we did last time there. Worked out really good. We all came to the conclusion that schoolhouse was better than dark day where we usually stay at. With the low water and the long hike, it worked out better just pulling the boats out at the end of the day.

We like the shore camping option. Don't know if you were aware of that option. Just find a spot on shore and put up camp. We do it all the time. You still have to make a reservation and have a chemical toilet.

Very nice setup lots of privacy.

Have some pictures if you want to see.

Lots of bears!! Every year we get them in the camp. So beware!

Thanks David. We know about the shore camping, but with the kids, it's nice to be in the trees with a table and fire pit. Also, some of our friends don't have boats, so then we end up being the shuttle for them and all their gear. We are thinking it will be easier to just launch the boat daily. We were wondering more about site recommendations at schoolhouse for multiple families.

I think the last time we were there with a pretty big group we had 19D where we put all the tents and everybody went to sleep or chill. And then we also had 26D where we cooked, drank, hung out around the fire pit. They are very close just across the road from each other. I liked it, worked out pretty good. I would recommend that one.

We also had encounter with a bear up there. Be on the lookout. Put your food away.
