Coming into the boat ramp yesterday, and heard a slap noise, pulled open the engine cover, and found the belt was shredding, pieces were everywhere. Called the dealership today, apperently merc has had a issue with pullies being out of line. Has anybody else had a problem like this?? And shouldnt this be convered under warranty??

Yes they had this problem. Yes it will be under warranty. Assuming your boat is still in warranty

be careful opening the engine cover with belts flapping around and the engine running....that could leave a mark!

yep, my friend bought a new Centurion and his belt shredded 3 times before the dealer re-aligned the pulleys to correct the problem... He's good to go now.

Mercruiser 315mpi had a recall for this problem. Mine shredded while we were at the Delta on a Tuesday. We were stranded for a couple hours before someone came by and assisted.
