I used 3" pvc schedule 40.

The flat sliders, I believe, are usually Trex.
(wood/plastic composite 2x4)

I use two 25'steel soccer goal post tops bolted together on two floats made out of big tire tubes and plywood.

I can see it now. I am all about using whatever is laying around to build a slider but I think that takes the cake. Mmmmmmm cake!!!

HDPE

High Density Poly Ethylene

Is the best stuff available with UV protection. Expensive but works great.
