I'm looking to purchase a wakeboard boat for under 20000. What boats do you recomend?

Please let me know of things that I should look for. (red flags) I really like the older Supra's but don't know much about which model or year.

Thanks for any help.

You can get a nice Malibu Sportster for less that $20K, it will even be fairly new! The boat has a lot of potential for wakeboarding when you add the wedge and a lot of weight. I sold my 98 last year for $16,500. You can still pick them up cheap. They are a heck of a boat. Check www.malibuboatowners.com and see how other people like them.

I got a 99 Mastercraft Sportstar for $17,000 last august with a tower and 2 fat sacs included. It has the Indmar 310 HP 350 engine w/150 hrs. The hull is the 1998 Prostar 195 hull (open bow), which is the same hull as the 1999 X-5. It throws a killer wake and is a good boat for the money.

There are lots of them for sale on boattrader and flipsell.

I'm also looking for a good wakeboard boat for around $20k. I've found that you can get an almost brand new Moomba for about that. They seem to be the only boats that aren't outragiously overpriced.

Whatever you do don't buy a new boat. Like a new car, the first time you use a brand new boat you lose roughly 25% or more of the value of the boat. Having an extra year of warranty isn't worth paying the 7-8 grand premium you pay to get a new boat vs. a year or two old used boat with normal hours.
