Are there any special rules to follow when wiring up amps, Can pos/neg wires be run parallel to each other, can they cross... should they be a certain distance from each other?

I've heard that RCA's need to cross power wires perpendicular...

I have a small whine in my speakers when the engine is on, need to track it down, starting with the RCA's, every thing appears to be common grounded properly...

Share your tips.
Thanks

^^That's part myth. A decent twisted RCA will haev enough sheilding to prevent nosie from entering. But's it's easy enough to check.

99.9% of the time the whine is ground related. I'm assuming it's your 08? I had a bunch of problems with my 07 Supra...ended up being the HU.

The HU wasn't bad, but an alpine HU was able to filter out the noise.

Tailgate,

Its really difficult to get alternator whine in a boat.

Do you have a dual battery set-up?

Is it possible that your source unit is supplied by one battery while your amplifiers are supplied by the other battery?

I only have one battery at the moment, I'm going to play with it next week, and try to track it down. Thanks for the replies

I was getting noise from mine. I disconnected the HU and it went away. Dont know if the HU was bad or not but I dont use it anymore anyways so I just left it disconnected.
