How did you wet sand? by hand? What grit paper did you start and end with? Did you use rubbing compound after? I have been thinking about doing the same to my boat. I have pulled the decals but can now see a faint MasterCraft in the gel coat and I can't get rid of it by just using polishing compound.

Its a 1995 and all original decals. This is the best side pic I have on this computer. I might get some newer graphic made up some time not really sure or just get a 2-1/2" wide pinstripe to cover up the teal.Upload

You bet me to it Stoner! I tried doing it the less abrasive way and it just wasn't doing enough. I tried polish, didn't do much then I went to a 3M medium rubbing compound and a buffer it started helping but was it taking to long. So finally used 1000 grit wetsand paper then 1500, then 3M medium compound and waxed. If I had to do it agian I would used 800 on the real bad spots.

You just used the wetsand paper by hand right? Did you use just a bucket of water and keep dipping the paper in or a constant hose spray. I'm really worried about scratching up the gel...

Yes I did it by hand I heard you should used a block with the paper so you don't get hand imprints in the gel. I also used a buck and a sponge to keep everthing wet. Just go slow you'll be fine this was the first time I have ever done anything like this and it wasn't bad at all, just took awhile.
