When using my PP for wakeboarding it works great, however when I use it for wakesurfing I have some problems. When wakesurfing, when my speed gets to about 4-5 mph, my RPMs drop down to idle and there is no power so my speed drops. I then push the throttle down a lot more and I get the power back and the boat gets up to speed for wakesurfing and the PP takes over like normal. This only happens when I am using PP and it does this in both Wakeboard (MPH) mode and RPM mode. I am guessing that it works fine for wakeboarding since I am using more throttle to get the boarder up.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks.

I was told by a guy from PP that the older models aren't designed to run low speeds. i can't get mine to lock on anything under 12mph. They say the new models has a wakesurfing mode. But I don't know since mine is an 04.

Run it in RPM mode, it is way more consistent

Scott: My boat is a 2007 but I ordered it back in September of 2006, but I don't think that it has a wakesurfing mode. The PP has no problem holding at wakesurfing speeds (we usually surf between 10-13 mph depending on which surfboard we are using), it only has problems while I am getting up to wakesurfing speed prior to the PP taking over.
Damned04: It does the same thing in RPM mode, and once PP takes over it does a great job keeping the speed in MPH mode (it stays within .4 MPH of where it is set).

Any other thoughts?

Sounds like the cable isnt reeled in at take off or it wouldnt be able to reel out cable therefore dropping your rpms. At take off the cable should be reeled all the way in unless your 07 is set up different then the older ones.

I think I remember seeing another post about this. It has to do with the servo winding or something, and putting it in neutral before turning around to pick up the rider. Try a search and see if you can find it.
