So I am getting the great opportunity to purchase a 56" Walzer surfboard. I have heard nothing but amazing things about these surfboards and am completely stoked to get my filthy hands on one!!! I am 5'10" on a good day 160lbs and love the skim style/quicker boards. I mostly use a Phase 5 Icon but I know this board will leave that one in the dust! What do you all pros have to say about the Walzer surfboards....I wanna hear it all, make me drool!!!!

This is the description of the board

"custom made 56” Walzer twin fin hybrid skim style board was hand shaped from a 1” thick polyurethane blank, then blended and tapered to ¾” thick on the ends. The blank was then layered both top and bottom with S-Glass cloth and aircraft grade epoxy resin creating an extremely strong and light board. Driving the board are twin FCS style fin plugs that come with a set of 2-1/4” fins and key, giving the rider the ability to switch out the fins in no time for different sizes"

My walzer has an optional center fin, I wasn't sure if the one you were looking at had 1, 2, or 3 fins. the board will be more locked in than the phase 5. IMO the walzer's rails dig in more than the phase 5 to begin with making it a bit less slippery, but with the twins you should get more drive and stability.

That description is truly a one off Walzer. The standard production boards used future C-5 boxes, on the rails, not the single FCS plug. FCS does make a sharktooth fin that will fit a single plug, but I remember that fin as being 2 3/8, the same depth as the C-5. The cant is a bit different also. That taper at the ends of that board sounds pretty aggressive also. The Walzer's when they were in production, were a good board, IMO.

I love my Walzer. I got it two seasons ago and have progressed a ton on it. The only other boards I have ridden are Hyperlite boards so my comparison to other boards is limited. My other board is the Broadcast and there really is no question that the Walzer is better in every way except for maybe stability. The Walzer is much looser, tons faster, very light, and more manueverable.

My only complaint is that I wish I could get more options of fins. I took some of Surfdad's advice and modified some longer fins and most of the crew I ride with loved the change. It is a good board expecially for the price.
