Back in August I ordered my 8yr old son his own board after he learned to ride this summer. He proceeded to jump off a big rock and break his tibia the next day. Thanks to a warm November day he's back on the water and rode his new board. Kids' bones heal fast! He still has a limp from walking in a cast for 7 weeks, but that will go away with time.

It's good to be a parent again!

A big thanks to Lloyd Murray for hooking Scott up with some wakeboarding stuff and being an ambassador for the sport!

Yep, that was him. I think he learned his lesson! And yes, the bindings were fixed prior to his ride.

They cast him just a few hours after the fracture and split/cut the cast immediately after putting it on. The split allows for swelling and to prevent compartment syndrome (severe enough swelling complication that can cause loss of the limb). The Dr. was going to add another layer of fiberglass a week later, but didn't think it was necessary. We went to a pediatric orthopedist and she told us that that treatment can vary significantly based on the age of the patient. Kids heal fast, but you have to understand their developmental stage. I learned alot, but not something I want repeat!
