A pathetic British PM who is nothing more than a reincarnation of that snake oil salesman Blair, and an empty suit US president who's only objective is to get re-elected, both watch helplessly as the world lurches inexorably closer to the abyss.

If they had no oil and were in Africa would you still be so worked up? Why do you care anyway? It's their country. We did nothing in Tunisia and Egypt and nobody cared because things turned out the way "we" wanted them - whatever that is. Especially in the case of Egypt where the dictator was an American puppet. So if the uprising doesn't go the way we want we're supposed to invade? By the way the Britts sent a team of special forces into Egypt and they were captured by the rebels and deported.

Them darn Europeans are always looking the US to lead the way. OTOH, it sure would be a lot cheaper to give the rebels a helping hand. Doing it our way has proven to be a massive failure with an extremely high price tag.

Big D - It wasn't in Egypt, it was in Libya.

Maybe this is the change Obama was refering to in his hysterical pre election rhetoric?? Hope to follow shortly.....

By the way SA is sending troops to crush the uprising in Bahrain because they know if Bahrain falls they're next.. You can bet your life we will be in there like a shot if the Saudis come under attack.

And the ONLY political group capable of forming a government in Egypt is the Muslim Brotherhood. Don't really think that is what "we are going to want" come election time.

After your last post Chris, I'm confused as to what you are advocating.

Look Chris, maybe you can remember a time when the U.S. government decided to aid rebels. We gave them close to half a billion dollars. The name of the group was mujahideen, which would later become al-Qaeda.

Oh. So since we armed them you feel we must support them? That what they do isn't their fault because we gave them the guns?

John, I am not really advocating anything because the ME has become such a mess it's difficult to know what to do.

My gripe is that the Western world seems so confused and there appears to be a complete lack of any sort of coherent leadership.

The British PM is meant to be a conservative but he isn't and I haven't got a clue who or what Obama is. All style and absolutely no substance. Reminds me of Carter.

The US defense secretary shouted down Cameron when he suggested a no fly zone over Libya last week and yesterday he had done a complete u turn and was advocating it. Muddled confused thinking.

If they state from the outset "this has nothing to do with us and we are not getting involved" I would say fine let them have at it. But instead we have these confusing flip flop policies.......
BTW what is Obamas stand on this??

The rebels in Libya are going to be crushed anyway by the look of it.

No, but you arm them today, you fight them tomorrow.

so can we now expect another multi billion dollar war in a country that means nothing to 99% of Americans?

Jeremy, nah, you dont have to fight them. Remember, if you arm them, when it come time to fight them the arms you gave them magically never existed.
