I was just curious if anyone has any idea on how much heat is generated in the engine compartment on V-drive on a hot summer day? Motor is usually around 160 degrees, with limited ventilation I was guessing around 200 degrees?

Anyone have any data on this?

My guess more 160 cuz we've got part of exhaust manifold not covered by water and this part of exh. manifold is too hot

Depends on if the engine has cats on the exhaust...cats will be a lot hotter than an engine without.

Just some useless information I wanted to know..... it does not get hot enough to melt the pizza pan above the engine in the BU's.... guess thats all that matters.

When we sleep over night on the lake we always take breakfast burritos in the cooler, fire up the boat in the morning and heat breakfast on the cats wrapped in foil! Hot breakfast without ever leaving the boat.

OMG, Greg! Not only do you EAT in the boat..... but you COOK in it too??!

Ha! Done that on a snowmobile or an ATV exhaust. Never dawn on me to do it on the boat too. It's a whole new market to sell those manifold cookers to!
