Best Boat Wipedown Product???

I have a new boat this year and am trying to figure out the best wipedown process. Waht are your opinions of the following and which work best for you?

1. Meguiar's Quick Clean Marine
2. Babe's Boat Bright / Spot Solver
3. Ducky Water SPot Remover
4. Vinegar/water mixture
5. 303
6. Other product
7. nothing

I have some black above the rubrail and it seems to water spot easily. I waxed it this weekend with 3M Marine Wax and it looks pretty good but some slight water spotting remains. I am trying to figure out a) how to get the rest of the water spots off and b) prevent future water spotting

Thanks for any ideas!

I really like the results of vinegar/water myself, and its cheap!

Shammies (sp?) work really well too if you can find them, sometimes its the quality of the towel you are wiping with that makes the difference.

how about regualr towels vs. microfiber vs. shammies (sp?)?

4. Vinegar/Water Mixture - Works great and it cheap.

6. Eagle One Wipe and Shine - Next best product IMO. It works just as good if not better than the vinegar...plus it smells good! It's also easy to find at most auto parts stores. I guess one drawback is that it is a more expensive option.

what ratio do you mix your water/vinegar.

Is that white distilled vinegar?

i use vinegar and water mix to , it takes the waterspots out really good and looks almost like a wax job.

I used to mix 50/50 ( white distilled vinegar).

I know use a spray wax/cleaner you can find at wal-mart. claims to have UV blockers in it as well. about $8 bottle, but works great and no wax build-up.

put a few drops of vanilla in the mix to kill the smell of the vinegar.

When at the ramp and I'm not planning on washing the boat later, I use vinegar and water (50/50).

After I finish washing the boat I spray this on while the boat is still wet.... I use vinegar/water mix with 1-2 ounces of Eagle One liquid wax. Shake well after every few sprays. Let it dry to a haze and then wipe off with a towel. Your boat will look and feel like it was just waxed (because it was)! It takes no more effort to do this than it does to dry off your boat.

I only use this mix when the boat is clean. I don't want to wax over dirt. I've been doing this for over a year and my boat feels like it just came out of the showroom. Trust me, it works!

Tracy, it's not acidic enough to remove wax.

For anyone not boating in the Delta, the secret to not getting water spots is a good wax and simply wiping the boat down. All I do is wipe mine down and hit it with Maguires Quick Clean Marine for a nice shine. Good wax=no spots. All those other products are only needed when your wax is gone, or you boat in the Delta.

Just my 2 cents.

I use 50/50 white vinegar and water with just a little bit of liquid wax, like Richard said. It makes it smell like Ducky (HMMMM) and seems to do the trick.

Vinegar/H2O does remove wax. Another product out there is made by a company called Driven. i use their wax and water spot remover. Great product.

Let me see if I've got this straight. Once you pull the boat out of the water and it's sitting on the trailer with water spots on it, you spray it down with 50/50 H20/Vinegar. Then wipe it down with a towel? Is that the correct procedure?

Anybody use Distilled water in their 50/50 mix. It seems if you were really trying to avoid water spots that distilled water would be the way to go?

Vinegar will strip the wax and leave your get unprotected.

I am using a new product called HOT SAUCE by Boat Bling. It removes all water spots and leaves the boat boat looking great after. I use to used Ducky then follow up with Quick clean marine so it was a 2 step process, because Ducky left a film. HOT SAUCE is much better. They also make a great vinyl cleaner that I just tried and love. I do all of my boating on the Colorado river near Havasu. The heat and hardness of the water make for some brutal waterspots, HOT SAUCE has cleaned them right off everytime and left the boat looking great.

I have used the 3m marine wipe down, Quick Marine, Babe's, so far I think this stuff is the best. Clay stole my last bottle because it worked so good on his black boat. I gave a bottle to Jude to try on his boat because I know he will love it. Im pretty happy with the stuff.

Babes works awesome. I wasn't very happy with their interior cleaner but the Boat Bright works great. It takes out all of the water spots and applies a thin coat of wax on top, leaving the boat extra shiny. I was amazed the first time I used it.

Also it has a nice smell. Unlike the vinegar mixtures.

What works even better than the Eagle One Wipe and Shine is Eagle One Wax as you Dry. Takes a bit to get it on, but is gives you a coat of wax every time. Works better than ANYTHING out there, and doesn't strip your boat of the precious wax.

badboyripper, I've found the eagle one wax as you dry to be very streaky on darker colors. But it does put a nice coat of wax on the boat.

I havent waxed my boat since I did the cut and polish about 4 months ago. I just started using the "Slick Mist", I use it after I pull the boat out or if I want to clean or wipe it down.

Vinegar/H2O for me! Cheap and great results. Every time I pull my Black X2 out I spray and wipe and it looks great.
