I just purchased a 1992 MC Prostar 205. The oil and fuel gauges do not work. The volt meter and engine temp gauge work fine. The previous owner said the sending units were bad. I replaced the oil sending unit, but the gauge still registers 0 psi. The oil level is fine. I have not tested the oil pump yet. I hear a faint audible squeal when the engine is running. It’s coming from a circuit board behind the dash.

Is the noise a low oil warning or something else?

What are the other causes for the gauge to read 0 psi?

How would I check to see if the gauges are bad?

Is there a common ground that the oil and fuel gauges use and maybe corroded?

Thanks for helping.

that era of Mastercraft boats had all kinds of gauge problems. I ended up getting my 1996 prostar gauges replaced as well as my 2001 gauges under warranty. I am not sure what the issue is but if you head over to the mastercraft forum you will likely find all the information you need.
