depends on your prop

When I am surfing behind me 87 SunSport with a 13 x 12 prop the RPM's hover around 2000 at 13.5mph. The engine really doesn't like it and sputters and has a few blowbacks. We have corrected the timing but not yet rebuilt the carb. I was thinking that a power prop 13 x 10 would rev it up to about 2500 where it runs much better. Any thoughts? Love the surfin!

with a 13x10 you wont get much top speed and will surely over rev the thing, imagine getting like 3800rpms at 20mph, can you spell gas milleage?

Interesting.... on my 87 Saltare I'm running about 3200rpms @ ~10mph. This is with 2000lbs in it, though. Do I need have my prop repitched next time it goes in? Not sure what it's at now.

A power or wakeboard prop should raise the RPM's into the engine's peak power zone. I don't WANT any high top end. Changing to a 10 pitch prop should not raise my rpm more than 500 at the most.

wakeboarding with 1500lbs at 23mph only runs 2500rpm also not quite fast enough rpm for good power pull.

Acme has the 13x11.5 new props, 542 and 543 I think, those are the supposed power props.

2250-2500 RPMs, 8-10MPH.

Wow 3200RPMS sounds really high. I do not turn that many going 22MPH with 2000lbs.

OJ recommended me to use their newest prop which was 13.25 x 10. $425

Right now I'm running a 13x13 and my spare prop is a 14x14.... this is in a Supra Saltare.... what SHOULD I be running?

13x 13 is the stock slalom prop. Mine also came with a 13x12. OJ recommends the 13x10 for us.

If you use a 13" diam you prolly can't use a 14" diam. But a 13x14would be even worse!
