I have not heard the new Polk Db's on a tower, but I have installed and heard the Kicker KTM6's. The Kickers really perform well if you put enough juice to them - at least 150W's but they will handle more. A pair (2 pods) can be found for $300.

I have db series for tower speakers and I will be switching to something else in the near future. I really like them for inside the boat. They are also great on the tower for when we are just chillin but if you want to hear them while you are boarding I would go a different route. This is what I am looking at since I really like polk audio. They will handle more power than the db series.

I just bought a pair of the Kicker KTM6 new from cartronixplus.com for 169.99 plus shipping. I didnt really like the look of them either so i got red speaker sox to go over them.

i just bought the kmt6's from cartronix and installed them over the weekend. Even though they are underpowered because i haven't got my new amp yet I was still blown away at the volume and clarity of these speakers. Definitely well worth the money. Easily the best sound quality/volume to price speaker on the market. The looks of them have grown on my but a still think a might invest in some speaker sox.

on a budget, I like the kmt6's. definitely by them from cartronixplus.com (like tommy said). I think mine came to 190 shipped to my door and I'm happy with them. I have them underpowered a bit, but they have a super clean sound.

yes, with the polk I have them running 150rms watts to each and they scream. The kickers are nice but the polk are more solid of a speaker.
I will put my speakers up to pair of any on the market and they will keap up. Also kicker is made in Oklahoma.

When you say anypair you mean any pair except for HLCD speakers right, because I highly doubt they would keep up with some wetsound 60's

i'm with brenner, no way those polk's could even touch the pro 60's. And it looks like those polk's are $600 - $700. No thanks, i'll stick with my $190-shipped to my door kicker kmt6's.

Like I said, for the money, nothing on the market will beat the kicker setup.

I could get the polks for $325 plus shipping, they do look way better. However i am mostly interested in hearing the speakers at 75'. Going to go with the kickers. Thanks guys.

I went a different setup, but I thought i'd throw my speakers in here too. I am running the Bazooka 8 inch tubbies. They are pretty good and support different mounting positions. I'm pushing approx 100 watts RMS to them and they sound good. I may upgrade someday to the kicker or ultimately Skylon, but thats a while away...I got mine at a local stereo shop for $150 so it made sense to do that :-)

I run the Bazzokas as well,( 2 sets ) An 8" speaker will move more air than a 6.5 . If you put a clean 100 watts rms to them , they are load and clear, and won't break the bank.

^^^ If you like them so much why are you switching all the schitt out in your's?

Hatepain, if you're talking to me about why one day would I want to switch them out...because I know my speakers don't sound like a wetsounds or a Skylon rubicon...I'm very happy with them and the versatility for mounting since mine mount on the side instead of on the back of the tower...Would I like to one day upgrade...yeah...am I going to any time soon...nah...they work great for me...

I wasn't Greg, ANAL dine had a thread going about how he is changing out all the components that make up his tubbies.
