We do it all the time with boat cops all around and have never read a law that said it was illegal. I'm going with legal.

Legal and illegal...depends on local laws.

For example...Blue Marsh = illegal, susquehanna river = legal

I was in N Cali last weekend pulling doubles and the sheriff waved and kept on going.

I believe the local laws in Northern Cali are similar, and states that there must 1 spotter for every rider you have in the water (e.i. triples = 3 spotters + driver)

nick, you might be right, im not sure though. but we have done doubles with just one spotter. and had 2 people on a tube and 1 on a board with one spotter. no one has ever said anything

Yeah, I'm not 100% either. just what I have heard over the years. I've had 5 riders on different things behind the boat before and never got pulled over. Maybe stop and ask the patrol in your area?

Wisconsin you can have 2 lines attached.

So 2 wakeboarders, two tubes (but as many people as you can cram on them).... anything more you need a pickup boat to follow
